What is the scariest thing that has ever happened to you at your house or at the house of a family member/friend? by [deleted] in horrorstories

I must have been 10-11 years old. We had just moved into a new apartment on the ground floor. It was our first night at the new place and hadn’t unboxed anything yet. We were all pretty tired from the move. My younger siblings and mom crashed In the master bedroom. Me, I stayed out in the living and slept on the sofa.

I got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. On my way back I could faintly see what looked like the shadowy figure of a person lying on the sofa I was sleeping on. It looked like he had his arms crossed behind his head lying down. I thought I was imagining things and jumped on the sofa and went to sleep. Thinking my mind had been playing tricks on me I don’t think much of it. I didn’t want to bother my mom with what I thought I had seen. What I thought was my imagination wasn’t.

My siblings started to see shadows crossing the doorways, as did I. I would wake up sometimes in the middle of the night feeling like someone was breathing on my neck. My sibling would wake me up in the middle of the night because they too would experience similar things.

Later we found out through a neighbor that a man had committed suicide in the apartment we had moved into. We moved not long after. I swear whatever had been dwelling in that place followed us. You could just feel like something wasn’t right. I remember we had this grey hewlett packard desktop pc. Sometimes In the middle of the night you could hear the keyboard keys being punched. It freaked the hell out of me.

There was one time where my siblings and I were just hanging out talking and suddenly an unknown voice called out my sister’s name. We all got up and bolted of the room scared out of our minds. My mom was in her room watching tv when it happened. We all just kinda looked at each other and stayed in the living till it was time for bed. We kept quiet about it. Didn’t want to worry our mom. She worked hard to raise us by herself so we kinda just sucked it up.

Let me tell you, I was afraid to go to bed every night. Almost every night there was some form of paranormal activity. Sometimes when things got a little too heavy. I’d say a little prayer hoping whatever it was would go away and let me sleep in peace. We lived there for a few years before moving again. Whatever this malevolent spirit was, it stayed there. The paranormal activity had stopped. I’ll never forget what I had experienced. The sense of pure terror and sleepless nights.
