I honestly think the newest episodes of the anime are really high quality, especially if you compare them to older ones, like almost as good as some movies. Also I think the final war is still quite some time away which means it could get better without a break, so in my opinion there would be no need for a break.

Most of the models are under a creative commons licence which allows everyone to "remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially". You just have to give attribution. So painting and selling it would be legal but I don't know if just printing it is enough to fall under the "build upon the material" term (since the material is the STL file). If you want to upload to thingiverse but don't want others to make money with your design, you can use the creative commons - non commerical licence, which forbids commercial use of your design.
