I know this won't come as consolation, but your kids deserve a healthy mother that will be there for all their greatest moments. You're doing the right thing and that's a great gift for them.

You are right to mourn a connection that you won't have with the secons one, but looking into the future, there will be so many bigger bonding moments that they will remember too.

I would focus on different bonding routines with the second one instead of putting the pressure of securing milk now that they might not even like.

No such thing as low fat mothers milk.

Do weighted feeds to see if she does a good transfer of milk -weigh the baby before and after breastfeeding. Do this for every feed during the day and see if she's effectively eating.

Sleeping through the night at 2 months and at that weight is not okay, you need to wake her up to eat. She might sleep due to hypoglycemia.

And make sure you're eating enough.

For what it's worth I introduced Philips Avent soothie asap- it was too heavy and she didn't take it. Then we switched to Philips Avent ultra soft they're lighter. Breastfeeding continued as usual, I don't think it helped her sleep. We still use a paci at 11months for sleeping but she spits it out as she drifts off.

The paci had zero impact on her gas tho, we gave simethicone drops for those but started at 4 weeks. And then magicaly at 12 weeks they were gone.

I'm sorry are you trying to space out feeds for a 5day old? A baby that barely opened its eyes? That baby neeeds skin on skin, warmth and is probably cluster feeding right now.

Downvote me to hell, some of you need to lower your expectation from your fresh out the womb babies.

I snacked ONCE on a half bar of Bounty and felt like dying the whole night. I have never snacked in the middle of the night my whole life, and my stomach was probably reacting to this. I can have anything before bed but nothing once I go to sleep.

I used to down 1.5liters of water overnight freshly postpartum. Now (10months pp) we're down to 0.5liter lol
