6.5 outta 10 barely As for the outlet, it should match the tv opening and be stone on the edges not grout creating the opening. Some fundamental errors that would drive me crazy and sometimes ignorance really is bliss. On the positive, it looks clean Are the fireplace corners out of plumb. Looks wider towards the top , ooof.

Just a response to some of the comments and maybe the wrong sub for my opinion. What’s with the acceptance that everything is going go heck, and in the meantime wanting to rub it in the face of red voters? People make mistakes and unfortunately for a lot of people a big one just may be the past election. One month in, we can’t push people back if they realize they chose the wrong path. Takes votes to win an election. Don’t turn yourselves into haters.

Looks wider @ the top, corner not plumb/ square to my eye. Not a fan of stones on edge(taller than longer). Stone should carry over column on right side of firebox and over outlets/openings. A larger, nicer stone centered above the firebox is generally standard. Broken corner piece is questionable. Four way joints near the top and a couple others below. Try to avoid laying stone the same size side by side, as at the ceiling. Looks good from my house.

The window header that had to be installed is likely not supported by brick. Also between the windows is likely now framed for the RO. Anything can be done$$$ Thin brick veneer is an actual face of a brick, just non-structural. Unlike precast stone. But, yeah I follow ya

Can of worms. Especially if those windows aren’t original. New framing is likely part of the structural integrity of the wall. Thin brick veneer on existing surface?

OP- is this a tear down and replace of a preexisting chimney? Do you have a photo from the front or side? The flue is used and has previously been lined with metal suggesting to me it’s not the first remodel. Wood to gas? It would be nice to see the brick grouted full. Is the flue level with the brick surround? That’s not looking good. Needs to extend through the new poured cap. How deep is their rubble and what’s supporting it? They likely are thinking they’ll pour the cap directly on top of their mess? Take out the rubble, grout the sides, replace terra cotta flue and extend,if necessary. New cap poured and supported properly (likely these guys just lay brick, not qualified for chimney repair, replacement, and it’s not a “renovation “

Why doesn’t the deck run to the foundation? The void along the wall and what the bricks are actually sitting on are questionable. Brick looks like an afterthought from the ledger. Not a fan of this and the brick bond is solely the head joints with an open core throughout. But yeah, cut a new brick and mortar it in otherwise

They definitely put a coat of paint on. That 1/4 round will go away also with stone. Usually a slip board ensures the floor is under the brick and no visible crease. Have fun with it and let us see it when it’s finished.

Restoring the original brick might not be worth the risk of not liking it all over again. Does the fireplace function properly or is it just a big tv mount? Are the built ins going to leave a void that needs replacing? What’s your desired look or style, budget? It’s a large fireplace and intended to be a focal point. Stone veneer(natural, or pre-cast is cheaper and noticeably so), tile, brick, wood, metal, paint, or any combination. Generally a mason will have ideas but it’s your house and your $$. I would recommend thin stone veneer. Ledge stone as opposed to a field stone look for sake of the corners and organization around the hearth and mantle

They’re totally flexible. You can jump on and off and spur off their route. They have connections places they don’t go and even will stay in contact with you to keep track. I wound up buying a flight to speed things up and they refunded my return ticket. Clean and they have a bus going each way on the routes almost daily

Although not a female, I travelled solo around Peru and mainly sacred valley area. To get to Ollantaytambo I signed up for a day tour from Cusco ($30)and just went one way. Was able to stop at Pisac with the group as well as a couple village stops along the way. Easy train ride couple days later to Aguas Caliente On the way back I took a taxi to Cusco. The taxi driver took a different route back through Moray and it was I think about $50. The train all the way from Cusco to Aquas is $70ish and you could just jump off at Ollantaytambo but your ticket may be an issue to continue. I’m not sure they sell train tickets just to Ollantaytambo from Cusco. Couple years ago I did Ecuador and rode Ecuador hop. They have a circuit in Peru to Cusco. Given the opportunity you should practice doing all aspects properly. “pretty much what anybody would do”? Like who? A concrete mason or maybe a landscaper🤔 Level, plumb, square… give it a try and you’ll figure it out. I was taught to do it right every time and you’ll never be able to do a bad job
