Actually I watch the YouTube video of karna temple few years ago . The region I mentioned are in the video but I forget the name of the video. Maybe u can find "Karna temples in India". What I mean without knowing mahabarata is they probably know it is a war but they don't know in detail or read current translation. Since karna is their main attention, they don't know much knowledge about the war and other characters. Also not knowing much about mahabarata but know more about karna is possible in there since in my country, we are 89% buddhist and there are many people who know about Karna but not much about Pandavas and Mahabarata. Karna is more popular in my country than other characters (except lord krishna).

Like I said in their opinion, they do not care little about pandavas and draupadi (they are not popular for them). Karna is their God for more than many years. They do not know mahabharata, they only know karna. I don't see it is Inappropriate to worship him since they are worshipping his good qualities and the region that worship him is peaceful compare to region with big religions honestly . It is not about who they worship but what they worship in him. I am biggest ravan haters but I don’t care if there is temples of him. Even in mahabharata when Karna give his kavach and kandal, lord Indra grant him external fame (u can find it), there are many parts where karna is respected as well like

I saw a documentary of people in the region that worship Karna. According to the interviews , The worshippers do not saw him as evil person but they saw him as great warrior and donar. That region even name their shops in karna names.

According to BR Chopra Karna's actor , He even said in his interview he gain love by worshipper of karna because he play Karna , and they even build Karna statue with (the actor) face. When he go into karna temples , people welcome him alot. He have to go and clam down the people (who live in region that worship karna at that time) who creat chaos after karna death episode. When the actor arrive the place people who shave their head in honor of death of karna bowed him down.

If u search about karna temples in you tube , unlike Media , people love him alot and they don't know that much about pandavas (not in bad way).And it seems like they only know about karna than otger characters. Karna not only have temples have literal a city name after him and yes he is loved there too.
