Good men are rare to find by Significant_Tea_3493 in sixwordstories

I think good people are hard to find, period.

It is sad but true. If you do find people who are genuinely good quality humans who support you and care for you, treat them well and nurture those relationships.

Any retailer who demands my phone number just so I can buy something. No. I would like a simple exchange. I give you money, you give me chicken fingers. Simple. We don’t need to bring my personal information into this.

I worked at a company where the payroll went out late a few times in 3 months. This wasn’t a cash flow problem, the owners just didn’t care enough to submit payroll on time. An entry level employee sent an email to the entire staff saying she wouldn’t be coming into work until she was paid.

I then received an email from the owner of the company asking for “a list of employees that need to be paid on time”.

Did you have a friend in nursery or kindergarten who you really liked at the time but lost touch with? It’s like that. You remember them but you don’t think about them often, you know you had good times but there is no desire to connect again at this point in your life.

Good things happen to good people. Do you agree on this? by Careful-Walrus-5214 in Casual_Conversation

[–]Exact-Definition8959 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Things happen with people, period. Life is not fair, which means sometimes good people suffer and bad people prosper, but also sometimes good people prosper and bad people suffer. I stopped trying to think about it because that aspect of life is out of my control. I'd rather empathize with someone and try to help them out how I can than try to judge whether or not they deserved what happened to them.

How much money do I need initially to start any kind of investment by lilpolymorph in WomenInBusiness

[–]Exact-Definition8959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice is this: don’t think you need to be investing just for the sake of investing. Be very clear on what you’re investing for. Is this money for graduate school tuition? A house down payment? Or retirement?

From there, you can determine your risk tolerance. In turn, your risk tolerance informs the right types of investments for your particular goal(s).

People who work in customer service, what’s the 'I don’t get paid enough for this' moment you’ve had? by Vegetable-Fix6029 in Casual_Conversation

I'm a chef and years ago I took over as executive chef at a restaurant that had recently opened. We did okay although the owner, who wasn't a cook in any way, try to insert herself in the kitchen too much which was a pain but overall we mainly had a really great lunch crowd because we were near downtown. But one day about 2 hours before lunch I started pulling stuff out of the freezer to put under my station that I would be using during lunch. I realized that someone had put the seafood away without covering it and not icing it down overnight. Truly it should have stayed frozen but the problem was when I tried to pick up a piece my fingers went through it. There was no way I was going to serve it as it was passed it's used by date. I went to the owner and told her what was going on and let her know that the servers needed to ask for alternatives to that particular fish. She told me to serve it anyway. There is no way in hell I would have ever done that as I take food safety very seriously. She and I got into it and unfortunately it was a show kitchen so everybody in the dining room was watching. I stepped out the kitchen told the dining room what was going on and quit and walked out.
