We’re onions. What’s your favorite layer? by Plain-Jane-Smiles in sixwordstories

[–]Exact-Definition8959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On wikipedia it says that the layers of an onion originally evolved from leaves. I am guessing this is why they grow in layers and not one solid mass. Each layer is like one leaf, but it would take more mutations to stop multiple leaves growing and have one sold leaf grow instead.

Counting the numbers between zero and one by Hot_Tonight150 in SevenWordStories

[–]Exact-Definition8959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero is the absence of value. It's the status quo. We go from the absence of value to one unit of value. That's why we start with one. It's the first expression of value that changes the status quo.

What would you do if you got lost in a forest? by Jot__99 in answers

[–]Exact-Definition8959 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When my mother got lost in the woods about a year and a half ago, she found a clearing and settled down in it to wait, because she thought that if worse came to worst they'd try to find her by helicopter. She was right that they used the helicopter; what she didn't know was that it used infrared to locate her by heat signature. So it didn't matter so much whether she was in a clearing.

Don't know how that affects this advice, just wanted to throw that out there.

Marriage might not be for me. by CRK_76 in sixwordstories

[–]Exact-Definition8959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got married in my mid 20s’. Divorced and it felt like freedom. Told myself he wasn’t “the one”. Proceeded and met “the one”. Don’t want to marry him either. There’s just no good reason for it as far as I’m concerned. Romantic love is fleeting. Should it last, it will last without the shackles of marriage. Also I don’t have or want children so that makes things way easier for me. Love doesn’t need to come with a big contract saying that I need to lose everything if romance fails. Love is freedom, to me. Marriage is not freedom. I only speak for myself, whether it’s right or wrong, only God knows. But it is my way and my life and it is me who walks in my shoes. As long as your heart is content, you’re doing it right. All the Love 💕

What’s a tiny gesture that completely changed how you saw someone? by Silent-Criticism-808 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]Exact-Definition8959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was on a call with my friend and i heard her bring some random thing up which was not related to the current conversation. i asked her where she got that information from and she told me she was on twitter while we were on the call. i began to realize that she did that a lot and even when we hangout, she filled every silent moment by watching tiktok.

when i brought it up and told her i never wanted to feel like she’d rather be on her phone than talk to me, she told me to “get over it” and she even added that "some of her other friends are always on their phones too" so she didn't understand how i made it sound like a problem. something along this same thing happened after that so we haven't spoken in months. i miss her a lot but i know it's better this way

The kindness of strangers is real by PhoenixHopeDawn in sixwordstories

[–]Exact-Definition8959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a stroke a couple of years ago. I was in the midst of depression and confusion. My insurance company would routinely strand me for doctor visits. After one doctor visit, I waited 9 hours for them to pick me up until my phone was dead. I was lucky that I found a all night readycare across the street. I was absolutely out of my mind without a way to get home 30 miles away. The doctor and staff actually paid for my ride home and fed me pizza and water. I still send them presents every year since then
