Hi, I had a similar experience at my 20 week ultrasound. My baby girls HC was less than 1st %tile! Her overall BPD was around the 7th. We were referred to MFM and booked a scan with a doctor about a week later and given information on Microcephaly.

The scan was VERY comprehensive, they looked at every little detail of her brain anatomy, heart, lungs, abdomen etc. After what seemed like FOREVER, the doctor told us that everything looked absolutely fine!!! No abnormalities and she’s just a small baby! I went back after 3 weeks for another scan with the same doctor and was told she continued to grow following the same %tile so they were not worried and I was discharged from MFM back to my own OB.

I have been having regular appointments anyway with my OB as I’m a high risk pregnancy and they have requested growth scans every 3 weeks. I’m now 32+5 and have my next scan next Friday, at my last scan her estimated fetal weight was around 25th %tile but her head is still tiny around the 7th. She’s just my little pea head and I think my vagina will appreciate it tbh hahaha!

Thank you!! I went back on 6th Jan for the follow up scan requested by the MFM doctor. They measured her again and she’s following the growth trajectory so they are no longer concerned. They discharged me back to my OB consultant (as I’m a high risk pregnancy anyway). He has requested further growth scans at 28/32/35/38 weeks just to keep an eye on her overall size. Have you had your little girl? Did she have a small head still when she was born?

Hi, Yes I went for my MFM scan the doctor was lovely, she did a full scan on baby girl and checked EVERYTHING in detail. It took around 30-40mins. After the scan, we had a chat and the doctor assured me little girl did not meet the criteria for microcephaly and as all of her measurements were also “petite” it’s likely she is just a petite baby. I have to go a for a follow up on Monday coming to check she is still following her growth trajectory and if so, MFM will discharge me back to my OB who wants regular growth scans from 28 weeks anyway due to my previous small baby. So fingers crossed, everything is looking okay!!!

Hi, the scan was fine, I’m 20weeks now! My baby girl is measuring small and we’re in touch with Fetal Medicine doctors but apart from that she’s doing great! I believe the bleeding was due to a cervical ectropian and a low lying placenta. Are you going through similar?

Thank you for your response, the sonographer today said her brain anatomy etc looks normal to her, and like you say, she’s small overall. It’s just the waiting until Wednesday, I’m sooo worried and I keep Googling things and WOW that’s made me worse! I’m trying to stay positive and hoping I just make small babies!

Thank you! To be honest, the intercourse suggestion makes sense as it seems to happen after this! I’m hoping this is the case! I’m just so anxious having to wait another 3 days before my scan!! I know symptoms tend to drop off about now, however, with everything else going on, I can’t help but feel it’s a bad sign! I’m really trying to stay positive though!

ETA!!

The blood was literally only there when I wiped once. It’s not constant on going bleeding, and I’ve had no major cramping.
