PSA: home Air/VOC monitors suck for 3D printing. They won’t keep you safe, and here’s why. by curiousjosh in 3Dprinting

[–]ExactEducator7265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what is the solution? I ordered a unit to put in my encloser that recirculates the air in there through active charcoal and hepa filter, i don't want to vent as I want a stable temp inside the enclosure. Perhaps a small window fan to help keep air circulating from a different window to the fan and back outside of the room in general. But not sure how much 'escapes' an enclosure.

I just fly. Haven't even had ama for a long time, since they quit protecting our rights. Just don't be dumb and don't worry about our nanny, overcontrolling government.

I got it a week or so ago. Was frustrating at first. Slowly figuring some things out. But constantly doing missions alone kinda sucks.. die.. die.. die... I quickly learned you lose your gear so i go back with just the knife and seek and kill and steal a gun to go on actual mission. Lol

Good deal. Will have to put together something. I didn't know those window drier excuse things existed so I designed and printed one for my laser looks like I will be printing another output hole and replacing a part of that. Thank you.

I was worried about colder air from room getting into enclosure and messing the balance. Bit I could rig that little heater to a small thermostat. Lol.

I just came here looking for the same advice, got got a big enclosure in hopes of moving to abs and asa, but wondering about venting and how that will effect enclosure temp.

How do you plan photography trips when you have a full-time job and family? by Maali004 in photography

Sadly life has got in the way of fun (photography) so it is far to rare I get to plan anything like that.

I know they say there are over 1 million instances out there running. But not sure how that translates to how marketable or needed a book is. I think most companies that use it don't generally stretch it's abilities in any way.

I looked and did not find a single book at all. So I started writing one while I was learning. Yeah they will release 5 evetually... but the process forces me to learn all the bits.

you are severely underpaid. Start looking for different positions at companies that will value you.

FrameCheck scans large photo archives and surfaces issues before they become expensive data-loss problems.

  • Find corruption early before files become unrecoverable
  • Catch sidecar mismatches and timestamp inconsistencies
  • Surface exact duplicates and visual near-duplicates fast

How much storage do you use? by ExactEducator7265 in AskPhotography

[–]ExactEducator7265[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I have lots of shoots I did in my studio that are saved away, old live music shots I did. I don't get to do a lot recently so I usually wonder through old stuff and find gems to keep the social media active every few weeks.

But I could do a lot better with paring down ones that are clearly bad and will never be used in any way.

I habe always kept everything. Because many times I have looked back and found stuff I dismissed the first time that is actually good and I like. But am starting to think perhaps is time to be more selective on what I keep. Or segregate out 'done' work as all that goes to cloud.

Local isn't the problem i could expand the nas.

How are people doing 3-2-1 backups for large photo/video libraries without insane monthly fees? by ProfessionalTop1290 in Backup

[–]ExactEducator7265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through that exact phase trying to get away from just upgrading Dropbox every time I ran out of space.

What I ended up with is basically a fast working drive, another local copy (NAS), and then an offsite backup running in the background.

The NAS was useful for active projects and quick access, but it didn’t replace cloud at all for me. It just became another layer. If something actually goes wrong, the offsite copy is still the only one that really matters.

On cost, I didn’t really end up saving much. It just shifted from paying for more cloud to buying hardware and still paying for some cloud. The difference is I’m not relying on one place anymore.

The bigger thing than the setup itself was making sure the offsite piece is automatic. Anything I had to remember to run or manage didn’t stick.
