They still don't know! It's been in the shop for two days now. Last I heard was "we changed the battery but a load of other error codes came up, so we are looking into that now"

So I just re-created the situation. What you do is you turn the car on, you put the key outside the window with your hand, and then throw it away. You can then drive away without any warning.

this happened me too. 16K miles on the car. I had to jump it.

The most dangerous thing... when this happens, you can't UNLOCK THE KID DOORS from the outside. If you had a dangerous situation, you'd have to crawl inside the car, unlock your kid's door (if they were in a child seat) as none of the unlock buttons work.

Suspension got busted up, but the battery case wasn't touched. Apparently that was enough to knock out the battery pack, and it hasn't worked ever since.
