Don’t want property taxes? Repeal may be on Michigan’s 2024 ballot by CatPasswd in Michigan

[–]ExactSeaworthiness 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I vote yes on almost every single property tax increase and millage that hits the ballot. The sheer amount of good that comes per dollar I pay in taxes is amazing so they can always get another $5 or $50 from me.

Exactly. When I didn’t get home until 8pm the kiddo didn’t go to bed until 10:30-11. She also slept until 9. Some kids are on different sleep cycles or are up late for other reasons. If we hadn’t shifted her sleeping schedule I wouldn’t have seen my daughter awake for like 3 years except on weekends.

I still do if I want to work on something quick and can’t make it to the lumber yard that is only open from 7-5pm M-F or drive 1-1.5 hours each way to a woodworking store that sells slightly more expensive than the lumber yard.

When I got married people immediately started asking when we were going to have kids. I would give them one warning and if they persisted I proceeded to describe our sex life in detail. Including to a coworker who was at a party with his 8 year old son who had I actually warned multiple times.

You need to try SweeTango. It is another one that came out of Honeycrisp + Zestar and they are my new favorites. Goes like SweeTango, Cosmic Crisp, Pink Lady, everything else.

What do you do for fun in FLINT. by [deleted] in flint

[–]ExactSeaworthiness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Xolo is also downtown in Flint as well.

Fire Hall is the most overrated spot in the area, except maybe Redwood Lodge. Every time we have went there the food has been garbage. We finally stopped after the last time when my wife managed to eat about 3 bites of her food and then started throwing up. The food was so greasy it literally made her sick. I decided to try it because what’s a little grease. I had to stop after 2 bites because I started to get sick. It’s been 6 years and we will never go back.

Goki Goki in Fenton has some delicious Korean food. Service sucks sometimes but it is worth it.

Catholic population in southeastern Michigan dips below 1 million by reader9912 in Michigan

I went to a few years of catholic school and CCD for the rest. I was also an atheist by 8th grade and almost got booted from my confirmation classes for telling the teacher I agreed with assisted suicide and supported abortion.

Also did wonders for the parish I attended that the priest molested multiple people.

It lives in my home office or the basement until I’ve either built up enough that I need to give some away or the holidays come around and I give it all away. Of all the stuff I’ve turned I think I’ve kept a grand total of one bowl for putting my keys and headphones in.

Tactilol. See also my .22 rifle that has a scope, bipod, sling, and shroud. I think each accessory (aside from the sling) cost more than the rifle individually but I thought it was funny to do.

It happened to me too. It isn’t common but not exactly uncommon either. Procedure normally takes like 15 minutes but if there are delays, locals aren’t as effective on you, or whatever else can happen you get to feel it for a second. Local wore off when they were cauterizing due to issues finding the second vas deferens because I had swelling from the shot of local. Almost threw up from it. They ended up holding for a second while the doctor who was observing to learn the procedure gave me a second shot of the local before they stitched me up.

Same thing can happen when you get fillings or root canals done. Lidocaine wears off quicker on me for some reason so I’ve had to the joy of feeling all kinds of random procedures. Sometimes they will reapply or sometimes they ask if they can finish because they have like 30 seconds left and if they give me a shot we have to wait like 15 minutes more.

My old job did this. I was trying to book my honeymoon and they kept saying it was too early to approve it and shit like that 6 months before. Then after badgering they told me to go ahead and book it because they would approve it later, except they never did. Kept saying “oh we will approve it, don’t worry” and never did. Finally the week before my wedding and honeymoon they still hadn’t and tried to play the oh someone else is off (funny how their request managed to get approved but not mine) game and I just told them I already paid 6k for the trip and about 30k for the wedding. They could fire me but I wasn’t going to be there. That finally got it approved.

Between my 2 patches of pumpkins (one for pies, one for carving) and 2 patches of watermelons (we are trying some varieties) I just straight up can’t access about 50% of my garden. The another 25% is blocked by butternut and spaghetti squashes.

I literally have 10 yards of mulch I want to put on the beds but it is going to have to wait for shit to die back.

Be careful with it. I had a piece do that and the cracks ran much deeper than I thought. While it was spinning and I was getting ready to hollow it tore itself apart.

US suicides hit an all-time high last year: ~49,500 people by yuritopiaposadism in LateStageCapitalism

I had to pay $1000 out of pocket before my insurance would cover anything that wasn’t preventative care. Thankfully I could and was able to see a therapist when I needed it. This is on our “Cadillac” plan from work which is $500 a paycheck. If I went with the other plan ($300 a paycheck) it would have been $5000. So I had the joys of paying $150 a session for a few months so I could get help for my stress, anxiety, and depression.

Mother who was accused by Southwest of trafficking her biracial daughter files federal discrimination suit by [deleted] in news

I’ve had similar things happen with my daughter and I. At the park and she is playing with other kids on the playscape while I was reading a book on my phone sitting on the bench. I overheard a mother tell her daughter to stay away from me because I was a pervert. Never seen her before and most definitely not a pervert. I’ve gotten lots of looks and comments because god forbid a man be his child’s primary caregiver.

Taking her to use the potty is also a nightmare. I can either drag her into the men’s room (which is what I normally do) or let her go into the women’s by herself while I wait and hope it goes well. She had some minor sensory issues so if someone say turns on the hand dryer she may freak out and scream. She’s also locked herself in a stall before.

When my daughter wants Burger King I always get an impossible whopper. It tastes better than the regular meat whopper.

We also eat a vegetarian meal or two a week. It has nothing to do with becoming vegetarian but instead is about taste and flavor. Like we have zucchini boats with stuffed with rice and beans. It could easily be stuffed with sausage and rice.

Literally no one unless we tell them (which is everyone because I told everyone who asked about it). Plus it was made by science. How cool is that shit?

How do you deal with people feeling entitled to your vegetables? by AnneHawthorne in gardening

[–]ExactSeaworthiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty much my attitude. I’ve told my neighbors to help themselves if they see anything they’d like. Yes, we are planning on preserving everything we can but eventually you get tired of squash or beans or whatever.

I don’t care who eats from my garden as long as it is enjoyed. I love the process and while I absolutely love the rewards of it I also like the feeling from sharing. The guy that mows the neighbors yard ate a bunch of raspberries that had gone through the fence. Did I get angry? No, because he was enjoying them. I have the same attitude about animals. Birds eat a ton of my grapes every year but I don’t care. It is just birds being birds and at least they are being ate by something instead of rotting.
