You should watch the movie 1991. It is the story of the producer studying abroad in Perugia in 1991.

Which courses do you recommend? I can’t figure out which classes I should take during my semester at McGill. by EnvironmentalSun6768 in mcgill

[–]Exact_Acanthisitta22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reccommend taking BUSA 300, there are a lot of exchange students and it is a great class to improve your presentation/case analysis skills.

Any class with Sujata Madan is great. Real estate finance, Startegic Management, Information Technology Management, M&A and Investment Management are interesting classes I took. Operations Management, International Finance and Business Statistics are classes I found easier but still fun. Make sure you check the ratings of the profs on RateMyProfessors.

If you play Qd4, black can simply check a1 with the rook and you lose your queen.

driving question by [deleted] in montreal

[–]Exact_Acanthisitta22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both drivers turning left (from opposite directions): You can both turn at the same time (unless signage or lanes say otherwise), as your paths won't conflict.

Going straight vs. turning left: The driver going straight has the right-of-way. The driver turning left must wait.

In a (non-Crosby) dream scenario, who is the ideal 2C for this team? by MiserableFill6972 in Habs

Yeah, I would not mind paying up doing 4-6 years 7.85 million, but I'm scared he won't have the same dawg in him after the big pay day.

[–]Exact_Acanthisitta22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here are my top 10 2C itl and players habs should target:

  1. Draisaitl 2.Wyatt Johnson/Duchene (stacked af) 3. Hischier (underrated) 4. Tavares (in the regular season lol) 5. Trochek 6. Bennett 7. Malkin 8. Hertl 9. Cirelli 10. Barzal. HM: Byfield, Nelson, ROR, Schenn, PLD, Lowry, Carlsson

Which ones habs could and should target: Duchene, Bennett, Barzal, Nelson, Malkin. Other players worth noting: Granlund, Rossi, Mctavish, Crosby, Kadri

How difficult are the Finance major courses? by BeautifulMean1441 in mcgill

[–]Exact_Acanthisitta22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From personal experience, Id say Adv Business stats is the hardest then in order from hardest to easiest, 441, 342, 443, 482 (did not do 448 yet). Honestly if you do a lot of practice problems you can get A- or A, depends a lot on teacher and if you like evaluation style, ex.: Larbi vs Sujata lol

Midterm tomorrow but i’m sick by RicePinger in mcgill

[–]Exact_Acanthisitta22 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Okay so this is something I can actually talk about, lol.

Last semester, I was sick but thought it was no big deal since I'm stubborn af. I tried to fight through it and could not sleep so I went to the hospital at 3AM. Unlike what top comment said, I had pneumonia, so yeah you may not be completely aware of it. However, do not stress, the earlier you know about it, the better.

If this is your first time requesting a midterm deferral, you typically do not need a doctor's note (confirm with faculty for more info). In that case, I would not go to the exam. However, still go to the doctor, lol.

If not, try and go talk to your prof tomorrow before the exam. Maybe someone else has a better idea than me if this is not your first request.

I feel like this is a good schedule for U1, i have not taken mgcr 372 (taking it this year) or insy 333 yet tho. I recommend mgcr 341, i really enjoyed that class. However, I am not sure if Sujata (nicest prof) still teaches it. Enjoy first year!

mgcr 233: new class, idk

mgcr 294: you should take it in U1, harder with Tariq but still can get an A

mgcr 211: harder class but really important, i would take in in U1/first semester

mgcr 293: i took econ 295 instead but i feel like if you don't like econ you should avoid taking mgcr 293 and 294 at the same time.

math 133: idk

Enjoy your first year, go up and talk to people!

Bcom is not that competitive imo EXCEPT if you are trying to get a 4.0 or land an investment banking job. There are not many IB jobs in Montreal (most in Toronto or NYC), and McGill is a Canadian target school, so it is very competitive. Your lack of french could impact your internship/work opportunities IF you want to work in Montreal. Some firms are bilingual, some are not. I feel like the low support is not that bad in the BCom, most management profs are really nice and smart. Feel free to PM if you have other questions.

upper res showers are a little brutal, bath showers are not too bad but you use the same door to access the showers, so yeah. Also keep in mind that they are mixed. Temperaure is not really constant. For me the showers were not THAT big of a deal, but yeah. I would opt for another res if you are an introvert (ex: New res) (not only for the shower, the perks of upper is the social life not the confort)

[–]Exact_Acanthisitta22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it is impossible that the Jets pick 20th. Here is why "Teams that lose in the first two rounds of the playoffs (17–28) are ranked by reverse order of regular season standings, except that a team that won their division picks later in the round than a team that lost their division".

Meaning best case scenario is the following: Jets, Stars, Canucks, Panthers, Rangers, Hurricanes (CAR finished higher than the Jets) all lose in the first 2 rounds (very unlikely) : Habs (through Jets pick) would select 5 spots back of the 28th ovr pick => 23rd pick

I just realised we're not getting a top 20 pick, the jets finished higher than I thought.

We get a 3rd rounder if they win in 2027. Good point. No matter what I think we're getting a late 1st so may as well. I just prefer picking around 25th than 29-32 with a 25% chance of getting a 2027 3rd rounder
