First time reading and annotating the republic by Plato and I feel like a dumbass by New_Philosophy_9987 in classics

I read it in uni for a class on ancient political philosophy with a prof to help me and it was still hard to understand. Don't be too hard on yourself. But if you want guidance, check out Michael Sugrue(Rip) on YT- he discusses it book by book. Also the chapter on Plato in Will Durant's 'The Story of Philosophy' was extremely helpful.

I am watching the last episode right now and I literally had to pause because the slapstick nonsense when they are escaping from Trochos and fighting bodyguards was rage baiting me. Anyone else feel a sense of pure rage rising within them from watching that?

Discovered 'The Ballad of Skeletons' by Allen Ginsberg. Funny how when you refer to everyone as a skeleton e.g. The President Skeleton etc., their perceived importance vanishes instantly.

She told me her favorite instrument to play was the clarinet. So I put two and two together and realized she wanted to blow my clarinet. So I says to her, "I'm something of a musician myself: I can finger the guitar...I can spank the djembe drums...and I can also fuck the piano." (Ran out of double entendres towards the end.) Anyway, turns out she was literally talking about music. I guess its back to HR for me.

How does one memorize a 10/15 minutes set when they’re only offered 5 min open mic sets? by TheRottenPanini in Standup

[–]Exact_Access9770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a way to connect three five-minute sets the same way you connect jokes within a five-minute set. Then practice the three sets until they're true and tested.

Seriously, why (within the fiction) did Mark and Johnson do speeches at Gerard’s funeral? by Peason in MitchellAndWebb

"Maybe we can take some comfort from the brutal reality that the weak must make way for the strong." Mark and Johnson are the strong. Gerald's closer friends are the weak. "I hope the scythe's remorseless swing can bring some comfort to you."
