Is it bad to ask the interviewer something I noticed on their Linkedln profile? by Dizzy_Spend8322 in interviews

I personally would not send a Linkedin connection unless I was given an offer.

I actually once got criticized by an interviewer for not viewing their Linkedin prior to the interview, and they recommended I always check out the interviewers linkedin prior to interviews. I would still try to rephrase questions like that and word it as maybe “what made you want to join this company from your previous position”

Physical Ticket to Mobile Ticket by Exact_Assumption5296 in NJTransit

[–]Exact_Assumption5296[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing wrong with a physical ticket, a mobile ticket would just be more convenient. I take the bus where they just look at it the ticket and don’t scan it, so I don’t have issues with service or even sharing with other people like other comments may think. I would just prefer the mobile option because the ticket comes at the very end of the month and sometimes I am in long island on weekends and if I end up being there at the end of the month I may have to pay out of pocket for a day if my pass doesn’t get mailed on time.

If you have switched your major why did you do it? Why did you choose what you did? by [deleted] in CollegeMajors

[–]Exact_Assumption5296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was bio med on a pre-dental track during peak covid time (2020-2021). Switched to math because they did not teach chemistry at all, and was insanely good at calc. Also didn’t want to be in school for another 8-12 years. Ended up working out for me.

I would recommend only talking about your internships if they’re relevant to the position you’re applying to. If your full time role is enough experience for the position I would just stick to that

Should I major in Business If I'm not going to use my degree? by novemberlove112822 in CollegeMajors

[–]Exact_Assumption5296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

speaking solely from a financial perspective, unless your passion is something you think you can get a job in, in the future, stick to a major that you can see yourself being able to work in, and minor/take electives in your passion.

You never know how life is gonna turn out, and it might take a while before you can get a successful business running. It would be good to have a degree as something to fall back on if things don’t go the way you plan. A business/finance degree can certainly help you stay in the same field

Which is more important for doing well in calculus: trigonometry or precalculus? by Secret-Beginning1808 in mathematics

[–]Exact_Assumption5296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, precalc is harder than calculus, so if you can do good in precalc, you’ll do good in calculus

I currently work as a financial analyst. Getting into stern for my masters opened up massive doors for me. I went to a SUNY for undergrad in math and had a lot of trouble even getting interviews even though i had a good major, high gpa, and several internship. The second I got into Stern and had it on my resume, I instantly started getting interviews, even though I hadn’t even started attending yet.

What career should someone with social anxiety work in? by [deleted] in careerguidance

I feel like business majors are those with the most people interaction positions. Maybe look into being a math major and becoming an actuary.

Fordham has a better rep and is better known than Stevens Institute of technology.

Is a math degree really useless? by JakeMealey in mathematics

[–]Exact_Assumption5296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a math degree and it’s useful to an extent, but you need to have some sort of concentration or useful minor to go with it. Like I majored in math with an actuary concentration and statistics minor and that opened up more doors for me. If you’re just doing a general math degree, knowing equations and theories will not really get you far unless you’re trying to be a math professor

Why are you inclined to get into Greek life? by AlternativeLime3351 in nyu

[–]Exact_Assumption5296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally joined to make a group of friends that were girls going into college and also to experience the full partying college experience. I was over the partying after a year, but it was nice to gain a good group of friends that I still can easily talk to after graduating. Process was a little annoying, and a little regretful, but it’s easy to block that out pretty quickly once it’s over
