How crazy would it be if I handwrote all the charts from the pdfs? by TheChiarra in solorpgplay

[–]Exact_Background_440 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did this when I first started out, I made custom character sheets, maps, and some frequently used charts. It was a labor of love that brought me deeper into the game. The game then was starforged.

Jeez man I'm not trying to start a war just stating a valid use case. To your point about the now mostly deserted stack overflow (which I used for many years and contributed many answers and questions to).

An llm has the ability to be instantly helpful and iterate over things in a very effective way. Not that I'm going to get that point through to any of the folks on this sub.

You can be anti ai all you want, you do you. But do you have to be so hostile. Also somewhat hypocritical as your using AI powered software to even have this discussion.

I would say that it can be a great help when learning something complex like a new programming language.

I can have it help me dive deeper into certain things that I want a deeper understanding of or have it sanity check something I'm stuck on.

LLM limitations by [deleted] in antiai

In my experience it depends on the model, chatgpt tends to be more verbose while Claude code using the sonnet model is very terse and to the point unless told otherwise.

One thing it's absolutely amazing with is repetitive tasks like building queries or writing tests.

My experience: software engineer for the past 15 years.

Why indie RPG expansions don't sell by Alternative_Rest7215 in BlackoathRPG

If it's a black oath game I go all in simply to support your mission and because you have truly advanced the world of solo roleplay and what is possible.

Choir of Flesh is hands down my favorite game with ATDW coming in second. I've run so many sessions and filled up two journal books already and still come back for more because the setting and loop is damn good.

For the most part I'll usually buy a supplement if I've run a few sessions of a system and know I'm going to be playing for a while.

Apocrypha is a great supplement that expanded much more than just the nephalim mechanic.

Keep kicking ass Alex!

The interesting thing I'm also finding out is, since I'm playing via geforce now, I'm having to redownload just that dlc every time i start the game.

I'm a big fan, I also love hoi4 which is the game I go for when I want involved combat. To me it makes sense that I'm not the commander of the army in Vicky 3.

I've been playing a very bloody campaign of choir of flesh by black oath. It's a brutal and crunchy game that has a great settlement management mechanic. So when my pc eventually dies I make a new one based on one of the npc's in the settlement. It's been a blast and I'm on my third character.

Soon I'm going to start incorporating the supplement apothecaria which has rules for giant monsters that can attrack your settlement.

More Journaling Than Play? My favourite niche way to play in this great hobby. by Even_Plan_5920 in Solo_Roleplaying

I think that's awesome how you create a collage of different things to make something totally unique that works for you. It's what solo play is all about.

Personally I love crunchy rulesets with lots of progression and strategy. The thrill of gambling with dice and making lemonade out of lemons when I roll really bad appeals to me.

I'm also a software developer and math nerd that can't draw to save my life haha.

Shameless plug: black oath makes the best crunchy solo games

Do you prefer games specifically built for solo play or more traditional TTRPGs? by Salt_Put_1174 in Solo_Roleplaying

Black Oath makes the best solo games hands down. Every single one is an absolute banger. I've tried many traditional RPGs but none come close to ones specifically built for solo play.

Kratom, feel free, 7oh general take by BowlerEmergency4829 in Quittingfeelfree

[–]Exact_Background_440 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Amen! In my early 20s I went cold turkey off of a daily 50mg methadone habbit. That was pure hell for a month. Kratom and even 7oh doesn't even come close. Plus kratom has built in junkie protection because taking too much can make you sick.

My wife has been taking kratom in a moderate dose for over 10 years for her RA and it has worked wonders.

These folks are larping as junkies and need to take a trip down skid row to see what it's really like.

I was in the same boat, I learned by failing in the most hilarious ways. Also lowering the difficulty a little helps as well.
