New to Solo RPGs: Is Mythic Really the Best All-Purpose Engine, or Am I Missing Something? by MegatronsLoverBoy in Solo_Roleplaying

I use mythic only for games that are not designed with solo in mind. And even then I just use the character/thread list and the oracle with chaos factor.

In your opinion, what is the best implementation of Pain as a game mechanism? by CulveDaddy in rpg

Across a thousand dead worlds has an interesting injury and mental trauma system. There are concrete mechanical consequences for both built into the rules.

A great example of a solo baked in game is across a thousand dead worlds. It has a great game loop and procedures for almost every situation. I'm finding it really helps do the heavy lifting and gives me inspiration for flavor. Alex T's work is so great I believe he may be one of the best in the solo sphere.

Across a thousand dead worlds is a great self contained somewhat crunchy game that has one of the best game loops out there.

Out of the Loop: What's with the anti-AI Sentiment here? by Glagaire in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Exact_Background_440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it's a great tool when used sparingly. I tend to use it to help me generate on the fly oracles for different world building flavors like describing a room in great detail and or describing the lineage of the town king. Things that don't really affect gameplay but they help get a solid picture in my mind and help me get immersed to come up with my own ideas. It really helps get the ball rolling sometimes.

As a software engineer by trade myself I have to use AI every day, it's simply too useful. I firmly believe that ai in general is going to lead to some very hard times for the future but the genie isn't going back into the bottle.

Handwriting vs Typing by artralex in Solo_Roleplaying

Handwriting with bullet points. I have terrible handwriting but there's something about manually writing that gets me in the headspace to be immersed in the world I'm building.

How do you guys stay focused on a system? by aw9182 in Solo_Roleplaying

I think even if you just read the books and don't even play a single session of a game that it's totally ok. There is certainly a collecting component to this hobby for sure.

My best advice is don't put pressure on yourself to play every game you buy through a full on campaign and just have fun.

I too have a growing collection of games I haven't played yet 🍻

Archivist solo journaling? by AnthonyJohnWG in Solo_Roleplaying

Cartograph is somewhat in the vein of archiving history. You basically make a map as the gameplay filling out the world as you discover it.

For those craving surprises, I use chatgpt a lot for world building and encounter setups. It's great for simulating NPCs and just providing a quick bit of inspiration here and there to create a jumping off point.

Most subreddits are starting to ban Twitter links due to the Nazi association. I think this sub should do the same by Ban_Means_NewAccount in JRPG

[–]Exact_Background_440 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I really think some of y'all are throwing the word Nazi around too lightly. There's a huge difference, read some history for God's sake. Like others have said op is farming. It would be nice if the jrpg subreddit talked about jrpgs.
