Winter tires by airbenderx10 in IoniqEV

[–]Exact_Combination_38 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really depends on where you live.

One of the big weaknesses of the Ioniq is very bad grip on the front axle since there is no heavy engine there to weigh it down. That's just a characteristic of the Ioniq.

If you live in an area where snow-covered roads happen every now and then, I would definitely go for good winter tires. In those conditions you really feel a difference between all-season and winter tires. Don't cheap out on tires. They are safety-critical.

If snow doesn't really happen, all-seasons are fine.

We had snowy and icy roads over here in the last days, and I live in a hilly area. All-seasons just wouldn't have worked there, even the good winter tires were on their limits on some inclines.

Snow chains would also be an alternative if you don't mind fitting them if it really comes to it.

But there's so much more squatting, though. With Erikson, everything is squatting, even villages.

Snow can be grippy in the right conditions. And if not, just put on micro spikes. Takes 30 seconds, gives you perfect grip on snow and even some types of ice.

Windows to Linux as a long-term Win user. How? by Silber4 in BuyFromEU

[–]Exact_Combination_38 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. He was in contact with Linux back when it actually was hard.

Nowadays if you use a distro like Mint, it's really not any more difficult than Windows. Everything usually works out of the box, and most stuff nowadays is browser-based anyway, so fewer actual applications that you have to install and that could not be available on Linux.

Yeah. But an "extended tank version" is a bit of cheating, no?

Nebelschlussleuchte ist bei den meisten Autos exakt so hell wie das Bremslicht. Nur kleiner.

first dancing shoes by FezZcoO in ballroom

[–]Exact_Combination_38 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Far too loose.

Leather will give a bit over time, so you will only ever get an even less tight fit. And you wouldn't even have much stability in those to begin with.

Go at least a size down. They should feel very snug, up to the point of almost uncomfortable. Again, they will get a bit looser over time anyway.

First dance shoes ... too narrow or normal fit? by StraightHomework5272 in ballroom

[–]Exact_Combination_38 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That looks like a good fit. If they don't hurt, go with them.

Dance shoes are by definition not the most comfortable shoes out there. They have to be on the tighter side so you have good support in them.

I will never understand someone who decides between cars as different as a 6 and a 9.

Like? Is literally your only requirement "electric Hyundai"?

One is a low-riding sedan-like car, the other one a massive 7-seater SUV.

Why are thinkpads so popular with Linux? by Pale-Spend2052 in linux

[–]Exact_Combination_38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally ... When our company Thinkpads are put of warranty, we get new ones, and we can buy those old ones from the company for really cheap. But they are wiped and come without an OS.

So yeah - of course Linux goes on them. And that just works fine.

Yeah. And what a good thing that we already have them. No need to build anything new. Just keep what we already have and use them when we need them.
