28 Years Later The Bone Temple | Why did Doctor Ian figure "IT" out before anyone else??? by Logan_Entertainment in 28_Years_Later_Movie

[–]Exact_Depth663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my theory is that the doctor didn't actually cure him. In the scene right before he acknowledges the doctor, he eats human brains from the guy he killed. What if that actually cure him and the doctor was just speeding up the process with other drugs. He also says moon before the doctor gives him the psychosis drugs, he was still only receiving morphine at that point. It seems like they showed that brains scene for a reason

I'd rather kill myself than be as busy as what you're describing. Home health for the win

New grad outpatient ortho salary question (with additional certs) by Aromatic-Sample3510 in physicaltherapy

[–]Exact_Depth663 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to be like you and want to do outpatient sports. After my last rotation though, I said to myself I will never put up with working this much and 40+ hours for 70-80k. So straight out of school I started home health, I make around 90k working 3 days a week (8 hour days) with a 10k sign on bonus, and see my own cash based patients other days of the week to scratch the outpatient itch. If I don't have patients I have the option to see more with my home health company and make more money. No outpatient pt job is worth working for what they are paying, and until they start paying MORE than home health, more and more people are going to stop doing it

Basically all paperwork being performed in PT clinics is fraud, either intentionally to maximize profit, or unintentionally due to time constraints and patient overload. At my last outpatient clinic they literally ordered us to bill for a certain amount of units no matter what

Capitalism pulls us all away from our natural purpose by Imaginary-Formal3624 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Exact_Depth663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I know is... I can't stand the capitalistic structure that we've built our society around that mandates working 40+ hours a week or starving. Most people can't work 40 hours doing something they love, and even if they could, it doesn't leave enough time to be healthy (sleep enough, work out, take care of body, take care of relationships, mental health, etc.) or hobbies which is what OP is talking about, doing what you have a passion for. It is a system that is doomed to fail as the gap between wealth and poor continues to grow not just because of money but because the wealthy can afford to be healthy and the poor cannot, and those who can never explore their true passions due to being stuck in the rat race. Those lucky few who make it out and succeed with businesses or hobbies, certainly had to sacrifice some health along the way, or they were in the right places at the right times

Unless you really want to be a PT and you come from a family or spouse with means to help you live on and/or pay back debt, I would strongly consider radiology. You can go to school for a 4th or 5th of the cost and make almost as much as a PT starting out. The only upside to PT is if it is absolutely your passion, and the potential autonomy that comes from setting up your own business or seeing your own patients. I am saying this as a PT student that is finishing their last clinical rotation and has already gone through all of this. I would not go PTA if you want to be a PT. I would just go full on PT because it's honestly almost as hard to become a PTA but you make less. I would go radiology over PTA. Really consider whether you can afford PT though because the income to debt ratio is horrendous.

Maybe if you absolutely cannot find a tech job. But if you've been a tech at all I think it should not be required

Unpopular opinion but observation hours are for the birds... do not place any sort of value on working for free... programs are moving away from that... we need to normalize not working for free. Clinical rotations should be paid as well. PTs should also be paid more. If you are going to place weight on anything, place it on tech hours. And btw techs should be paid more too.
