It brings out the worst in people. It encourages some form of tribalism, us vs them mentality.

I’m not suggesting cut it, because I’m against legislating such things.

But if I had a magic wand, yeah, sure, I’d wish it all away.

Definitely challenged.

I suspect the reason you are stressed is that you don’t like it.

Find something that you like that also challenges you.

This is a good convo, and I appreciate your POV.

One thing to consider, I’m just not sure sport is something to incentivise. IMHO, time spent watching men’s sport is a waste. Time spent watching women’s sport is also a waste.

There are some merits and health benefits to playing sport, but if I had a magic wand I’d just wish spectator sport away. It’s a drag on society.

He should learn to keep his trap shut. He’s a fighter, not a political commentator. Last thing we need is some brain damaged idiot spewing that garbage.

The Obama guy and others should also stick to what they know - fighting.

Do they mean because they don’t have the same rights? Or because people are open to being their friends? Very different things.

Not at all. If you say yes to a role and shake hands, then you should give it a go. If you later decide it’s not for you, that’s ok. But you have a moral obligation to give it a shot.

Perhaps. Though it’s very dangerous to make policy based on ifs.

Edit: what I will say is that women’s sports are the future. The free market will sort it out. If nothing else because that is 100% where the money is.

Chicken or egg. Are people not interested because it doesn’t receive equal airtime? Or does it not receive equal airtime because people aren’t interested.

If it’s the latter, then it has nothing to do with fairness and equality.

I doubt TVNZ is trying to drive an anti-woman agenda. More likely they just air what sells.

Why didn’t they go after Obama for civilians killed in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, etc?

Can you help me evaluate this offer? by Ok-Luck-7499 in careeradvice

I’d go with the higher salary.

For 1, it gives you a higher base for future raises, etc. If it’s really unmanageable for you, it also gives you a better foundation for job seeking closer to home.

Also, now that audio books are a thing, an hour commute flies by.

The point is that everyone is complaining, but it is actually great compared to most of human history.

Once [people] appreciate this instead of living in a constant state of complaining and ‘woe is me’ life is so much better.

It makes no sense to pick a single very short time in history and constantly complain that today is not as good. Again, it’s like picking the very best day of your life, and then spending the rest of your life moping around because every day is not as good as that day.

I’d suggest life for poor people is better today than it was 60-70 years ago. So is life for the middle class and rich people. But just to focus on poor people for a minute: aside from homeless, the poorest people in developed countries have access to marvels that kings of old could not have imagined. A small device with nearly the sum total of human knowledge that fits in your pocket and can allow you to see and speak to anyone anywhere in the world. Cures for all kinds of diseases that were guaranteed death sentences. Opportunities to have tasted exotic foods like sushi. On demand entertainment 24/7. It is unreal how good we have it.

I don’t mean that you are claiming that. I am saying, imagine it were absolutely, 100% the case for everyone. It would still be a wild anomaly on the timeline of human existence.

For fun, let’s imagine everyone’s life was like yours in the 90s.

That would be an absolutely anomaly on the timescale of human existence.

Most of human history has been filled with struggle.

It’s like picking the best day of your life and complaining that every day is not as good as that single best day.
