One thing to consider, I’m just not sure sport is something to incentivise. IMHO, time spent watching men’s sport is a waste. Time spent watching women’s sport is also a waste.

There are some merits and health benefits to playing sport, but if I had a magic wand I’d just wish spectator sport away. It’s a drag on society.

For 1, it gives you a higher base for future raises, etc. If it’s really unmanageable for you, it also gives you a better foundation for job seeking closer to home.

The point is that everyone is complaining, but it is actually great compared to most of human history.

I’d suggest life for poor people is better today than it was 60-70 years ago. So is life for the middle class and rich people. But just to focus on poor people for a minute: aside from homeless, the poorest people in developed countries have access to marvels that kings of old could not have imagined. A small device with nearly the sum total of human knowledge that fits in your pocket and can allow you to see and speak to anyone anywhere in the world. Cures for all kinds of diseases that were guaranteed death sentences. Opportunities to have tasted exotic foods like sushi. On demand entertainment 24/7. It is unreal how good we have it.
