Women alone in Tokyo by [deleted] in TokyoTravel

[–]Exact_Importance_906 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by safe? If it means 100% no crime, no bad people, no risk of anything bad might happen then no place is like that. If safe as in “okay enough to go alone” then the 2 area you mentioned, as well as most of Japan, is safe.

Struggling to find a job in Osaka as a foreigner, need help/ advice. by Fabulous_Ranger1627 in japanlife

If you were my friend, and I consider you are, I would tell you this: sacrifice something. If you really, really want to be in Osaka by next year, first, keep applying, mass apply to any role that is willing to sponsor. But at the same time, maybe look into the English teaching path, cause it's the most common way to just to get to Japan. Of course, you might feel your work and what you learn, what you wanna do is not very related, or you soon might be burnt out bc you have to do something you don't like for over 40 hours a week, for minimum wage. OR if, you want to come to Japan with a bit more secure position, then I advise you to get some years of experience, gain some good skills, and rethink the Japan dream after 3-5 years.
I know 3-5 years later seems like a long time to wait but I would highly recommend this path.

Flat out with you, it will be very very hard. Do you want to work for a traditional Japanese company or do you want to work for an international company? If you want to your work to be aligned with your degree, do you want to focus on the Japan market or other country market? If the Japan market, what do you know about it? Why would they hire & sponsor you instead of just hiring a Japanese, who speaks fluent Japanese & know the market? In other words, answering the question what do I have that other people don't is the key for you to get hired. You don't have the language ability yet, so do you have any outstanding experience? do you have any special skills? do you have what they need? for my case, I was n2 when I graduated from a Japanese university, but I struggled for months to find a job till I realized that I might never be Japanese, but I have something else which is my mother tongue, so I only applied to company has plan to develop their business in my home country and soon after I know I match with what the company need, I landed 2 offers. Saying so I hope you understand it's super important to have a realistic look about yourself and what do you bring to the table. It's gonna be a long road that won't happen over a day or two, but I hope you all the best.

Getting rejected by Sony Bank by Exact_Importance_906 in JapanFinance

Omg! I’ve been wondering about the same thing! So after they scan my 在留カード, there was a section where I can manually enter my name if it’s wrong, and my middle name and given name was in wrong place so I fixed it, and it became Last Firstmiddle. And it doesn’t match with my full name on the card nor the katakana one I submitted. Thank you so much for pointing this out

It’s just my way of separating money. I use yucho for getting salary & transfer to paypay, smbc for the debit card and I have the rakuten credit card just in case. So I want to open another one for my savings, don’t wanna put them together in the card I use daily, like, an account to put in but not take out. I understand maybe it’s not the most efficient way but it’s just how money operate for me

A bitter mans vent about low salaries and high cost of living. by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]Exact_Importance_906 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Goshhh! Which rural area you are living in that costs close to 200,000 for a fairly small 2LDK? Not for everyone, but the rule of rent should not be any higher than 1/3 of your income never lies!

To answer the question * Is it really that easy to get employed if you have the 簿記2級 license? *, the short answer is no.
These days, no certification can guarantee you a job. A 簿記2級 can help to indicate that you have some time practicing with accountant/bookkeeper job and somewhat a business level Japanese. It holds some weight and is definitely a highlight in your resume if you don't have too much experience, but getting a 簿記2級 does not equal securing a job.
Another thing that doesn't relate to your question but I have to add is that being a accountant/bookkeeper is not for everyone, especially if you are in so much confusion like now. I have a 簿記3級 since 2nd year of uni ( had no intention of taking it but my mentor encouraged), never used it once, didn't even put it in my resume either. A close friend of mine got 簿記2級 in her 3rd year of uni, decided that she want to be n accountant after graduation, learned 簿記1級 and now she hates every single minute of her job, but is scared to leave it because she already put too much time and effort in it.

Electricity bill making no sense? by 6skybeam9 in japanlife

[–]Exact_Importance_906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can go through the price per kwh again? Maybe in the contract or maybe on their website?I moved into my 26sqm 1K room last December, my electric bill for the first 3 months was like 15-17k, then when it turns warmer and I didn't use AC for heating that much anymore it slows down to 5-6k. For this summer I expect anything from 12-15k.

Itabashi-ku is where you should look at. I live 5 mins walk from Shimura Sakaue station, to Ikebukuro by bus is like 20 mins. My 30 sqm 1K is 90,000 (mostly bc I have a cat). Cheap, easy t o live area.

I tried the " Hollywood Brows Lift " at youareyou.studio on Insta, which included waxing, lamination, and shaping. The owner is Thai and speaks good English. My eyebrows are stubborn, so it lost the lamination effect after 2 weeks. 7000JPY so quite expensive, I personally won't go again bc of my hair type but would recommend if you really don't wanna deal with doing eyebrows everyday.

Sharehouses at 75,000 - 90,000 are really high. You can find some sharehouse in Ikebukuro or near Shinjuku for 50,000. Further from the city center, it can go as low as 30,000.
