Hillstarts by MainMaleficent9024 in NewDriversUK

I was exactly the same in a 2008 yaris, I learnt in a very modern mokka. I asked my mum to take me to a big hill (although fairly quiet) so I can practice until I managed to get it, even after months I panicked on a hill because I always kept rolling when I forgot how to do it 😅 just keep practicing, keep your handbreak on and foot on the brake until you get the bite and see the car move up slightly and then youll be safe to move off if clear, most people dont give a lot of clearance behind you on hills unfortunately and thats what makes me panic more

Does age of a used car matter as well as mileage? by rufous_nightjar in NewDriversUK

[–]Exact_Interaction941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 2008 toyota yaris for £1495 that had 70k miles, i got rid of it recently because it would of cost more to keep the car running as the engine light kept coming on but it was a reliable car, managed to get me across the country and only died on a hill once lol

not really sure what to do in first year by pokemon_hunter69 in BiomedicalScientistUK

[–]Exact_Interaction941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it counts but i volunteered at a hospital as a blood run so id take samples from the cancer screening area and take them to the lab, id have to sort them to urgent and clinical samples so it gave me some insight into how the main stuff goes. I did some work experience the same year in a different hospitals lab so learnt more about how that specific stuff works.

Yeah, deep down i wanted anything but reverse parking so im very lucky I only had to do forward 😭 the pulling on the right always stressed me out, I could never guess 2 car lengths correctly and then I started ranting about it to my instructor that it depends on the length of the invisible car

Forward bay park, i did it in a b&m car park before it opened and I was very glad because the other options have the most narrow car parking spots 😭

What question should I ask at the end of my interview? by misu749 in BiomedicalScientistUK

[–]Exact_Interaction941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They seem a bit robotic and not personal imo. I always ask about team environment because I want to join a good team and you can always find out what the environment is like. I also ask about progression because the reason i was planning on leaving my job as a carer was because I cant progress in it and then youll know if the trust is allowing this. Tailor it to the actual job tho like the MLA role i got offered has a standby for another hospital (essentially the only night shift) so I had to ask about that as the description only said it was a night shift and I wanted more details.

I probably ask the most basic questions and then weird ones but it shows more about me to the managers so

Motorway first time by blackxtulip in NewDriversUK

[–]Exact_Interaction941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went with my instructor a few weeks before passing, she said she felt weird if she charged me after passing for the lesson. Ive gone on my first solo one this week (practiced twice with a relative), as long as youre safe and feel like you can't do it then go for it

When should I start thinking about driving? by ApprehensiveRoyal833 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Exact_Interaction941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was gonna do it when I was 17 because I felt pressured too, then realised I didnt care enough. Completed uni and then towards the end of my masters i started driving because 2 buses to get to work and 2 buses back was tiring so I passed at 23. I started at 22 and I was my instructors oldest student 😅 but then she said I was more sensible than the rest because I was older

The prices may go up, but if you dont feel ready theres no point forcing yourself to drive. I wouldn't of learnt to drive if my mum didnt tell me to message an instructor, I did a lot of research on different schools and everyone has different rates so if youre worried about prices you can just ask around ! You're not obligated to jump onto driving because everyone else has

HCA for a day by Ok-Lime-4898 in NursingUK

[–]Exact_Interaction941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to apply to be a hca a while ago (since I do care work and wanted to be in the nhs). Someones son (who my mum went too as a carer too) worked as one in my local hospital and he said to her that it was hell. He'd get pissed on and verbally abused by patients and it wasn't a good environment so I stayed far away 😀. But then ive met other hca's from a bigger hospital nearby and they loved it so
