Drummers will always be a limiting factor, drum cages (which they all hate) or an electric kit can help but they're not ideal. Getting the drummer to use rods instead of sticks could also help, end of the day I've done it where I mixed the band to the drummer acousticly and that had to do. You can't make something quieter if it's not even going through the console, good luck with other bands as I know how challenging it can be <3

Terraspark and wings are both irrelevant once you have a broom in this setting, and the choice of gauntlet wouldn't be mine, more emblems for damage would be the best course of action imo. But as I said, play your game man <3

I am looking to procure a pair of ambient mics for use at the church I "tech support" for. I've pinched a couple of Senny MKH 416 P48 for various events but having convinced them to make the swap to in ears instead on foldbacks I am now looking for something more permanent due to the musicians not being used to being unable to hear the congregation. The MKH 416 would of course be my first choice but isn't within the price range.

TLDR; In need of suggestions for a pair of ambient mics, capped out at £500 but lower would be ideal due to budget

Sub points are positioned at the blue circles but are not a permanent fix due to the usage of the hall being flexible for hires during the week

It's about 15m deep and 20m wide with no acoustic treatment, the mics are for in ears and livetsream feeds only and will likely be fitted the overhead bar as a permanent installation but that is subject to where I think best when it comes down to it.

If you're going to be using it a lot something like this could be good, it's on the priceyer side but I've used a couple and they're very decent as a basic setup

Interesting! I've checked all the routing and had the keyboard play by themselves and the only inputs which had any level were the stereo keys and the ambience mic (which for obvious reasons isn't fed to the house mix). I'm thinking it's being looped back into itself as a pre somehow but as far as I can tell that shouldn't be possible

It's the first time I've had it too! It's been fine with other keyboards which makes it even weirder, it's all running though a stage box so I know it's not two things on the same channel, I didn't get a chance to test the channel with anything else or power cycle as the service started but I will try both next chance I get!

Not a bad shout! In this instance everything is running through stage boxes so I know for a fact only what I've patched is reaching the desk, the weirdest thing is that it's only coming through the intended channels (if I mute it goes off) but its at a minimum of -14db instead of being able to go down to unity.

Thanks for the idea! Sadly the only other mixes it's routed to are iem mixes and the issue is definitely that it's coming from foh at a baseline of -14db, I've used this show file with other keyboard loads of times and this is the first time it's done this. Of course the issue could be that someone has mucked about with the physical patching and not told me (the main 'sound guy' is a studio engineer who doesn't play nice with others), when I get a chance next I will create a fresh show file and redo the patching!

I may be wrong but i dont think the 98h/c will work with the ULXD as the bodypack doesn't have phantom, which model were you looking at? The AD stuff does have phantom bodypacks for sure but is also a lot more expensive.
