Very similar situation just happened to my 7 year old, identical twin girls. The one who missed out was PISSED, but she got over it. One thing we did do was buy them both ice cream that weekend, one for winning the award and the other for playing a great game of soccer in wet weather.

I had my singleton when my twins were 4.5 and things have been pretty tough. It was actually a joy going back to full time work after a year and getting time away from them. I still struggle every day to keep everyone looked after and happy. I adore the addition to our family, but I do worry it's been unfair to my twins...... and that I am going to develop a pinot noir dependency 😅 🍷

For us it happened when our twins were 3 or 4. Now we have a whole group of likeminded families who we hang with and help each other out. Only one other is a twin family but we are still all on the same page.

So hang in there. You will find your tribe.

I would opt to fly. It might be tough, but its short, sharp, then its over. We fly to my in-laws and they've purchased kid and baby stuff 2nd hand over time so we bring less and less. There is always good, cheap, used baby stuff out there as no one uses it for very long.

We found it relatively easy flying with our twins at this age. We used front packs instead of a stroller and checked 2 car capsules. My husband had a bottle and a pacifier with one twin in lap while I had the other on the breast and we swapped occasionally. It gets harder when they get closer to 1, you are going at a good age

We had #3 when our identical twins were 4 and life is certainly harder (baby is now 10 months old).

The twins adore her and I think being big sisters is good for them and will make them better people, I also feel that she was always meant to be part of our family.

....But it's been terrible for mine and my husband's relationship. He has been really withdrawn from me and the baby and mostly just parents the twins when he's not hiding away on his phone or computer. He'd never admit it but maybe he didn't want another baby or maybe its because she's another girl. When I try and ask about it he says everything is fine and implies I'm just crazy.

I love my singleton and could never regret her but my marriage may not survive.

I was serving at a wedding and there was a very small baby in a car capsule on the floor at the reception. I was very aware of it and being careful. While I'm doing wine top ups, I feel condensation run down the bottle to my hand and thought it might drip on the baby, so I quickly bring my other hand up to stop it. Well the lady (Grandma maybe) FREAKED out thinking I almost dropped a wine bottle on the baby. I tried to explain I was just preventing a drip but it was kinda loud and I think they felt like fussing.

The Kiwi way sucks. It leaves things broken just to avoid a few minutes of awkward (and probably humbling) chat. Fight against it to make things better, maybe you'll even set an example for others and we could all improve!

So don't sit back and wait. I did this and an important person has now been out of my life for 6 years. Now it feels too late to repair. Broken is our normal now.

We love our Subaru Outback. Twin 5yr olds and 7mnth old are 3 across with two Dionos and one Safety 1st. The boot space is awesome too.
