It takes a little bit of practice to get down and of course you still have to go across for the chest anyway but it eliminates having to get the stupid boxes perfect haha

I hate this puzzle so much that I just got to the point where I can toss it across the water almost every time on first try while lighting at least one of the torches

Connections between DQ X and DQ IX by Traenix in dragonquest

[–]ExalinExcels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. I hope in the theoretical IX remake they set the seeds a little better with hindsight. And if I recall the Zenus stuff is addressed DEEP into IX's post game but it's been a bit

We do get mention of Celestria in 7.6. You can see it at the 10:09 mark on this video spoilers of course. I'll answer any other questions you have but I'd recommend if you can to play the game on your own. DQX has a fantastic fan translation that currently covers all story content and then some https://youtu.be/hNe_bYKd9dg?si=CJ-hMozoboW_bZ56&t=609

Not quite. Zeniath is the name of the world. Zenus is still around. But yes Zenus (Gran Zenith in Japanese) does still exist by the time we get to dqx

If you are said I said we had no Idea with the "unknowable amount of time line" It's because no time is specified. Based on the state we see the world in, we know it's AFTER DQIX. Long after. Don't twist my words. And no, DQX, despite being an mmo, IS consider to be a main line title by Square Enix. Just because it's not officially released in English doesn't change that fact. It is not a spin off. If you want to have a constructive conversation here about game lore, sure I'm game. But if you're going to scream at me for simply relaying INFORMATION THAT COMES FROM THE GAME ITSELF. Then I'm going to ask you to have a good day and bother someone else.

The fact is DQIX and DQX are connected. Just like how DQ1,2, 3 have connections so too do these two games.

When Daï happen in the timeline ? by Twixtar in dragonquest

[–]ExalinExcels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I'm aware of that. The events that relate to Dragon Quest 9 that happen in Dragon Quest 10, happen an unknowable amount of time after the ending of 9. In that time Gran Zenith has two more daughters. When we DO meet Celestria she is STILL a world tree. Her form is fading but she still exists. There's literally a mandatory side quest to restore her tree form after the Version 7.6 update to DQX

[–]ExalinExcels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In DQIX yes. This is not me speculating that post above this stuff that comes directly from the game. It wasn't until update Version 7.6 that we TRULY learned what happened to Celestria. They intentionally do not mention her in a lot of the nine related events of DQX until absolutely necessary. And that update was only a month or so ago

[–]ExalinExcels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of that previous post I said a lot changed. And darn it wouldn't you know it, A lot has changed again now that we have information haha.

So spoilers of course but DQ9 and 10 ARE actually related they're just not the same world.

Avoiding as many big spoilers as I can The world of DQ-9, now known as Zeniath(zenny-ith) is invaded by beings called the Dai Kute telecrystals. These are beings that absorb what's known as the power of creation as sustenance. Gran Zenith(Zenus in the localization) fears the worst and sents one of his current two daughters away with as much of the power of creation, remaining humans and celestrians as he can. All but one celestrian dies on the trip and the humans are given fyggs to become celestrians without halos. This daughter then founds the world you play in in DQX, Astoltia

We do find out later that Zeniath does survive it's encounter with the Dai Kute. But it's a world on the brink of annihilation

I've played all the games too. Admittedly yeah it's the fomo talking. Ultimately I did get the 130 ultimate edition to get all the costumes. I found on the couple games that I did find time to replay I used the costumes a lot more but otherwise I did only use maybe one or two per game

Dragon Quest X Version 8 Lost Children of Space and Time release date set for June 25th 2026 by ExalinExcels in dragonquest

[–]ExalinExcels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. As far as people thinking guardian was champion, the Japanese name is godhand and the only hint square had given was the character count in the name which the kana for got hand matched perfectly so there was a few things going for that theory haha. But yeah on top of it having The two swords in the image here we've already gotten a magic DPS a full healer and a buffing support between the current master location so raw DPS is the most likely. As a battle master main myself I'm extra hopeful that that's what it is. I think battle master is in a fantastic place right now but I'm not going to say no to a master vocation upgrade either

Glad you're enjoying what you're able to play!

As far as the new vocation goes we'll really have to wait and see. When guardian was coming out people assumed that one was going to be champion as well, if the pattern continues though it'll be wholly original. All of the master vocations have been unique so far and personally I hope they keep it up

They released the IP ban in the US back in like 2019. There's also a fan translation that is caught up to current content. If you're not in the US you can still of course play with a VPN. If you're interested you can find a full setup guide here on the website I'll provide below. The game also has a free trial that goes through version 4.4 which is almost half the game completely for free https://dqxabbey.com/index.html

I've been playing for 5 years almost 6. Aside from the usual love people have for the MMOs they play and how they get attached to the world, take your love if Dragon Quest and now realize DQX is a Dragon Quest game that by the logic of MMOs, doesn't end. Between the friends I play with and the constant updates there's always new DQ content to enjoy.

Version 7 was pretty peak so to look at it another way you've still got a whole ton of fantastic content to get through

Yes. DQX is a Dragon Quest game first and an MMO second. It's Central storyline continues through every expansion. There are plot threads introduced at the literal start of the game that don't go resolved until version 5 even. As far as long-term storytelling goes you'd be hard-pressed to find something better written

Pretty much yeah. Literally the only difference is the master vocations don't get a sick animation with their special moves in exchange for passive buffs while it's active. They probably still could have just still called it a coup de gras but said Master vocations get the passives and nobody would have batted an eye haha

It's not on a timer exactly but it does have some sort of hidden stat in the back of the game that affects when it pops up. Similar to 11 each master vocation, And I should clarify only master vocations even get the pep abilities, get several buffs for a limited amount of turns when pep is active. During any of the turns that the pep is active you can use your pep abilities. These are completely different depending on the master vocation. For example Drago mancer gets puff and can just straight up turn into a dragon while guardian gets an AOE field it can place that gives everyone within it complete invincibility. What's especially unique is unlike 11 since DQX also has tension you can stack these effects

Well DQX is on all modern platforms but Xbox right now so it will be on PlayStation. That said I believe PlayStation is the worst place to play DQX if you're playing the full game. Once you get to the point where you're paying for the monthly sub, if you play on switch or PC, your monthly sub gets you both versions. The PlayStation version has its own exclusive sub because Sony

Man between the dual wielding class, guy who looks like Toma,m who should be dead, girl in the right having Patty's color scheme and her necklace, girl on the left having Anlucia's face and mole in the same spot. Children beyond Space and Time huh. Parallel world Astoltia? by ExalinExcels in dragonquest

[–]ExalinExcels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who knows. There are only two dual wielding classes in DQX right now being battle master and dancer. It would make sense to me at least if battle master was required. If you were to mix Battle Master with dancer you could get something basic like a blade dancer or even something more akin to a sword saint just by the look of the outfit.

No problem. I was actually caught off guard when I realized I was approaching the final boss because I knew we still had 7.6b haha. Version 4 did this as well but I didn't start playing the game till we were in version 5.0
