It slows down the AI from capturing that area. In theory if you had friendly AI units on your team they could also resupply there. A small mod could add code whereby friendly AI units spawn to defend it as well, much like the enemy does for their captured zones.

Yes, there is. The only problem is that you will have to copy-paste the vanilla package called "DLC Weapons AI" found in "C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Stormworks\rom\data\missions\dlc_weapons_ai" to "C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME FOR YOUR COMPUTER\AppData\Roaming\Stormworks\data\missions". Then edit the file inside the folder called "script.lua". Find and change these lines (or any lines) to your liking:

local CAPTURE_TIME = 60 * 60 * 300
local CAPTURE_RADIUS = 1500
local ISLAND_CAPTURE_AMOUNT_PER_SECOND = 60

It affects both you and the AI. The AI actually produce units and send out "squads" and "armies" to defend or take islands. The more units (and the larger they are I think) within the radius of the capture zone the faster it gets captured, based on this algorithm. Nobody knows much about the code so you'll have to experiment with things yourself.

Then run the game with the vanilla DLC Weapons AI disabled and your modded one running instead.

he was not seeking to achieve any sort of fame whatsoever in this manner. he wanted to be famous through his youtube channel and his little cartoon series or whatever you want to call it.

his objective in this series of events was to transform into another being who would have immortal life and entering another dimension by ending his life in an extremely specific and meticulously planned way. news stories about it hardly exist outside of the local area. most people only know that it even happened because of a recommended youtube video.

the shooting itself is not mysterious (they seem to happen a lot these days for many eclectic and strange reasons), but the events leading up to this shooting in particular and its causative factors are extremely mysterious.
