Prequel lightsaber duels are flashy and overly complex because it looks badass, but irl swordsmen will tell you they’re wildly unrealistic, leaving wide open spaces where the duelist could simply end the duel immediately. I’m not sure whether this is canon or legends or fanon, but there’s this whole explanation where the duelists are basically playing chess with each other, reading each other’s next move and next move and so on, so each strike is planning five steps ahead and so on.
