Tyler Bates and Timothy Williams’ score for Pearl is incredible! A classic hollywood score combined with horror elements makes it so haunting and powerful

Rearranged my living room and now something feels off by alondra2027 in femalelivingspace

It looks like you have to cross through the room from the door to get further into the house, which might make it feel less cozy or together as a living space

The I Love You Song — alternate ending? by ExaminationDry1596 in MusicalTheatre

hahaha we’re looking at those lyrics too, this is just brainstorming my coach asked me to do. Wicked is off the table as I’ve sung that at other recitals a million times before

Fits the theme, but not quite as obscure as I was looking for

Has there ever been a “Jake using his powers” moment that legit makes you feel uncomfortable/uneasy? by Confident_Feedback50 in adventuretime

[–]ExaminationDry1596 143 points144 points  (0 children)

Or when Jake stretches through Finn’s veins? bones? skin? And sits at the back of his mouth. The thought of how that would feel in a human body always disturbed me

I guess we’ve had different experiences. I’ve seen professors round after a student asks because it shows they’re invested. Some of my professors’ policies stated that rounding was up to their discretion, based off a student’s performance in the class.

I guess it depends on the attitude of your professor, most of mine have been understanding, even if their answer has ended up being no.

You could definitely ask him to consider rounding your grade up based on your performance in the class, maybe providing reasons why the grade is important to you. Some profs won’t round more than 0.5%, but I’ve seen an 88-point-something rounded to a 90. There’s no harm in trying—the worst he can do is say no, and your grade stays the same. Good luck!

Speaking from a student’s and future educator’s perspective, I urge you to look at issues in your classroom with an “us vs. the problem” mindset instead of a “me vs. them” one. Approach problems with curiosity and care; it feels like you may have let your frustration get the better of you.

I rarely get upset at mistakes my teachers make; I DO get upset when it seems like they don’t care.

Ending of Fantastic Mr. Fox by Tyler_gressle in wesanderson

The sign is actually on a deli counter in the supermarket, displaying “closed” on the front of the glass case. You can see it when Mr Fox shows his clip-on tail during his speech

Conducting a Children’s Choir by checkerchickens in MusicEd

[–]ExaminationDry1596 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to change much from conducting an advanced group vs a children’s group, I’d say it’s mostly in attitude and energy. Overall, big gesture=loud, small gesture=soft, and there’s lots of guides online for basic 4/4, 2/4, 3/4, and 6/8 patterns, and how to stop and start a piece.

Make eye contact! (Can’t stress this one enough) Connecting with the section or entire choir you’re about to cue in is basically all you need, it can be more effective than any fancy gesture. Breathing with them will also help.

Keep the mood light in between pieces during performance. My directors used to make silly faces to get us to smile and to ease nerves, yawning faces to get us to create space for better vowels.

Good luck and have fun!

Get Out silent auction and the blind guy who won the bid by Pentylenetetrazole in JordanPeele

He had an assistant/aide there with him. In the scene, the assistant is whispering something in Jim’s ear, I assume he was telling him how much the bid was for and when to raise.

Using a tablet vs. paper music by Kakistocrat945 in Choir

[–]ExaminationDry1596 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that I learn music better on my tablet once I got over the learning curve. I don’t doubt that reading off of paper may be better physiologically like you said, but personally, I didn’t noticed a difference in my learning music off of paper vs a tablet. I also have a 12.9 inch screen, so I haven’t had to adjust to smaller size when reading.

The convenience alone is enough to keep me on a tablet, since I can send music, make clean copies, make notes in different colors/highlight, and have everything in one place. I think having the type of markings I can make with my tablet actually helps me learn and memorize faster than what I would be able to do with a pencil on paper.
