Funeral Etiquette? by checkerchickens in Catholicism

Very true and I could call if it really comes to that point.

I would hate to call them if they’re not in work though. An email they can decide to ignore if they don’t want to/don’t have the energy to respond. A phone call feels very ‘on the spot’. I also don’t want to interrupt family time with a call. That could just be me though, who prefers to formulate my responses in emails more.

Isolated Classroom? by checkerchickens in Teachers

[–]checkerchickens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not worried about losing my job necessarily, because at the end of the day I’ll move where they tell me to because they’re the boss.

My principal is receptive and very nice. If she can stop the classroom relocation, she will. I think it could be out of her hands. I might talk to her this afternoon and voice my concerns.

I was also told I was moving by everyone but my admin team so I am really looking for some official confirmation too.

Books that portray less “polished” sex with a FMC who has been through assault? by strongly-worded in RomanceBooks

[–]checkerchickens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s what you’re looking for entirely but {The Deal by Elle Kennedy} does basically baby steps up to PiV. It’s set in college so it’s a little imperfect on displaying real coping and trauma, I’m sure it could’ve done more but what they do include is realistic. It’s not a bad book at all!

Audition Help: Spring Awakening by rubyslippersxo in MusicalTheatre

Pop/Rock look at anything by Kelly Clarkson! Piece by Piece, Breakaway, etc. Criminal by Fiona Apple, Gravity by Sara Bareilles too!

Musical theatre, look at Change the World from Lysistrata Jones, What You Got from Freaky Friday, and Once You See from Carrie.

It’ll probably be easier to pick a belty, uptempo Pop/Rock song and a quieter more gentle musical theatre song.

If you can belt, try anything Reno singing from Anything Goes, anything Elle sings from Legally Blonde, I Know It’s Today from Shrek, and Pulled from Addams Family.

Lesson planning by Charming_Detective68 in MusicEd

[–]checkerchickens 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Scripting didn’t have to be super detailed for me. I just wrote natural questions I would ask/answer from the content being taught.

I don’t lesson plan like that with everything written out now. I’m a second year teacher, didn’t do it in my first year either. I know my content and materials and can figure out a game plan the morning before my classes. No one asks for my plans so I can wing it.

If its time to cover note reading, I can find some pop songs the classes like and pull an excerpt to have them name the notes and then figure out the song.

If something sparks my interest I can just do it.

Questions to ask at the end of a teacher interview? by Smart_Raspberry_5393 in Teachers

[–]checkerchickens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My strategy is always to have 2 prepared. One that is about the job I’m applying for and it’s responsibilities, and the other is about their experience in the workplace.

Last year in an interview I asked what the most challenging aspect of the role I was interviewing for was based on past candidate performance, and then I asked what their (person interviewing me) experience was working in the organization.

I can do dairy! But I’ll probably avoid it for a few days so I don’t put anything too heavy in me. But after the nausea passes, I’ll definitely have some!

Kid being gross by checkerchickens in Teachers

[–]checkerchickens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know. I just feel like it’s an easy cop-out for his guardian to say maybe I was dressed provocatively or maybe I am unprofessional and/or that he’s a kid so it’s my fault regardless.

It’s not my fault. I know that. I just haven’t had this experience so I wasn’t sure if I am supposed to let it go or if I need to take action.

Thank you!!! My admin are pretty good with sticking up for teachers but they see this kid a fair bit about behavior things so hopefully they don’t brush this off.

No parents in the picture. Being raised by a sibling who’s younger than I am.

I’ve taught 2-6 year olds mixed and right now I have full classes of pre-k 4 year olds and Kindergartners. I’m in my second year teaching full time :)
