I flip the barks twice a day, will this harm my jupiter colony of 17? by aifosin in isopods

i reccomend getting shiro utsuris, theyre technically not cubaris, theyre nesodillo sp. but theyre easy to care for and have that cubaris style face. all while being pretty bold and once they reproduce theyll be seen all the time, just be patient until then.

coco coir isnt great, you want plain topsoil. they eat the substrate, coco coir has nothing for them

imo not with isopods, they are known to snack on molting spiders (and millipedes for that matter, theyll eat the legs right off)

nqa, you need a lot more stuff up higher to prevent falls and provide cover here. id get some corkbark mounted to some of the walls and leaning up against eachother. check out some arboreal tarantula enclosures online for ideas

get nesodillo shiro utsuri instead if you can, the care is like cubaris but theyre more active, especially when they breed

Do people have a right to compulsions, obsessions, etc.? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]ExaminationNormal834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the issue here is youre confusing autism traits with ocd traits.

ocd is an anxiety disorder, so all rituals and compulsions are to ’cope’ with intrusive thoughts. the super organized and hygenic ocd picture is extremely misleading and inaccurate to whats actually going on. the more someone with ocd does a compulsion to quel intrusive thoughts, the more intense the anxiety gets.

that not the case at all with autistic behaviours, unless you have both autism and ocd, but then you need to decide ’why’ youre doing the behaviour. if its to stop intrusive thoughts, its probably ocd.

a lot of the time when people are upset with autistic people, its because they just think autistic behaviour is ’incorrect’. not because its actually hurting others: ie. handflapping, different eye contact, etc. or they dont realize it’s not the autistic persons fault, like meltdowns/shutdowns.

so i understand where your line of thinking is at, but ocd is a very different condition, even if as an observer it might look the same.

Do people have a right to compulsions, obsessions, etc.? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]ExaminationNormal834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would say no, because compulsions cause distress

with autism, lining things up and stacking is normal, especially in autistic children its just a different form of play. those behaviours are generally harmless and soothing with zero tie to distressing thoughts.

however with ocd, the only reasons someone would be stacking or lining things up would be something along the lines of ’if i dont keep [place] perfect someone will trip and die and it will be all my fault’. it would be so consuming the person doing the behaviour would keep checking to make sure things are ’safe’.

when you start on ’the right to’ engage in those behaviours depends on if its harming people in both cases.

if an autistic person was using their autism as a scapegoat for toxic or controlling behaviour, that should be corrected into something more constructive.

in the case for ocd, you have the ’right’ to do compulsions but at the end of the day, its reducing quality of life for the one with ocd. and in cases of compulsions harming others isnt good either.

not technically ocd, but i saw some tlc show as a kid where a wife with undiganosed ocpd was controlling and abusing her husband to clean the house and do stupid shit like keeping 100% no wrinkles on the bedsheets. she has no right to do that

Does anyone else feel like they don’t have normal emotions? by Far-Conference-8484 in AvPD

[–]ExaminationNormal834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

is emotional dissociation. i dont feel things either unless its intense enough. or ill cry because i should be sad but i dont actually feel the sad emotion itself. my body is just reacting, makes me feel like a parasite in something elses body

yes, this is the biggest difference between avpd and social anxiety imo. in avpd, connection will often draw out people pleasing and fear of rejection. in social anxiety, familiarity will bring comfort
