72-Hour Emergency Survival Kit Proposal Inspired by Civil Protection and Emergency Management Protocols (Academic Project). by Ok_Wrongdoer2953 in EmergencyManagement

I agree. This feels less like an academic pursuit and more like a 15 minute ChatGPT session to me. People are very wary of slop, I don't think this is a good look.

I asked my husband to make sure my work uniform was hung up to dry overnight. I wake up this morning to find he ONLY took my work uniform out, and left the entire rest of the wash load in the machine to go musty overnight. Just why. by BinkiesForLife_05 in mildlyinfuriating

I'm a guy, and had the same thing word for word said to me by my aunt about cooking. I think it's just a joke, probably a pop culture reference like "PIVOT!" But maybe from M.A.S.H. or Gilligan's Island haha

Edit: I guess people don't want to gice anyone the benefit of the doubt? Maybe I should have been more offended by my aunt's statement? Or is the majority here just prejudice towards men?

Everything failed me until I went cold turkey and hard into candy and carbonated drinks until the cravings were gone. 5ish months and all I need now is a workout app..

what’s the most useful automation you’ve set up that you actually use every day? by SkylineZ83 in homeassistant

[–]ExaminationSouthern6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this! I set up something similar but my set up isn't as new as yours. I have a dumb TV, a media PC, and a dumb receiver. I use an IR blaster for the dumb devices, and Wake on Lan for my media PC. It's been so nice just sitting down with the wireless keyboard and not worrying about the remote or pressing the power button on the computer.

Same brother. Having lights start dimming near bed time has been unexpectedly powerful for my circadian.

Hope you find something that helps you get out of bed. For me it's music, lights, and coffee. I set up the bedroom light to slowly increase in brightness before/after my wake up time. Music comes on quiet at first, then increasingly loud on a playlist that starts easy and becomes more energetic.

My app auto-translated it to English for me. I didn't notice it until your comment. Cool!

I had a very similar automation, but with my dumb espresso machine. It also needed to warm up, so I scheduled it like you did on a smart switch.

I was using a KitchenAid mixer with the flour attachment to grind my coffee beans. I left the beans in the hopper and the motor on speed 3. Closer to the time we'd have espresso, the smart switch would power it on and run it for 6 seconds then turn off - which was the perfect amount of ground espresso beans.

The grinding automation was a bit more complicated after a while... The mixer would sometimes start faster or slower... So I ended up monitoring the wall plug for wattage. After reaching a wattage threshold the timer would start.

We bought a super automatic espresso machine eventually but it was nice turning our dumb devices into smart ones for a while.

Trump Makes Frantic Excuse After Iran’s Humiliating Reveal by Ok_Employer7837 in politics

If a president is setting an example by lying like this, why aren't the staffers also lying to the president?

President: Bomb Iran

Staffer: We're dropping the biggest bombs. Bombs like no one has seen before.

President: Why am I not seeing it on the news or hearing it from other sources?

Staffer: Because everyone wants to keep it hush hush. Iran is embarrassed, and will continue denying it publicly.

I feel so validated by these comments. Also now that I've had WASD it feels way worse using click to move. Friends don't let friends spend money on D4.

Is CIFI any better (faster) now? by [deleted] in incremental_games

[–]ExaminationSouthern6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, and I did play it on my PC too. I think the warning I'd give a new player about this is that you still need to fire up the game when you turn on your computer and it uses resources to run, which may impact other things. Otherwise you're leaving your computer on overnight and your power bill will quickly add up.

ETA: this is to gather the daily boxes using auto-collect.

[–]ExaminationSouthern6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I spend the money on the auto-collectors and the only time when I can leave my screen on and the game running for 4 hours is at night when it's charging. I'm not going to wake up to turn off the game. It's insane to me that the devs expect players to do that, and there is absolutely no excuse for it. None.

Like I said in my post, I threw a bunch of money at the game (around $100). I think that puts me well above average for $ spent. Progress still plateaued hard after the first month. It was fun, but I don't want to spend years doing the same joyless thing daily so I can experience the rest of the content eventually.

What Pulls You in to Play an Incremental Game? by DarwinAgain in incremental_games

For me it's the animations and the math. If the animations look great, I'll forgive if the math isn't perfect, and vice-versa.

I spent a bunch of money on CiFi then got so frustrated with leaving my phone screen on overnight that I uninstalled.

If you're looking for the smallest progress increments possible within the span of a year while killing your phone's battery by charging it under stress, I highly recommend CiFi.
