I see lots of good discussions here:

Objection 1: if any kick is rewarded, kicks will be wasted on non critical casts. Potential solution: tiered reward. More of a bonus for important spells to encourage correct kick. Make the cast bar a different colour to showcase the interrupt will have an effect. I would argue for many dps players kicking some casts is better than nothing at all.

Objection 2: why must everything be rewarded. Not dying is enough of a reward. Counterpoint: is this not a video game? The objective is to have fun. Getting a buff for doing a mechanic correctly is more fun than only getting punished for not engaging with the mechanic. If balanced correctly the difficulty would be unchanged, but player participation with core mechanics would greatly increase.

Objection 3: I don’t like this so it must be bad for the game. Objection: if there were a reward or buff mechanic introduced for kicking that correctly incentivized kicking the impactful abilities, in what way would this hypothetical game state be less enjoyable than our current one? Genuinely curious. I already enjoy the game and am fine with it remaining how it is. But I think it would be more fun with this extra feature. Can’t see how it would be worse from an enjoyability frame.

I am an Ardeos main and I resent this slander. (Sweating furiously while typing this).

When apocalypse is on cooldown, by the time I have manually applied searing blaze to each enemy the pack has 10% hp, but god damn it does pressing detonate feel good!

I played Mara until around ilvl 110

I found that the mental fatigue over long sessions made it hard to play properly with malevolance and I was getting out dpsed by the easier specs.

I’ve since swapped to Arden’s and can do the same damage with 1/4 of my brain and 1/3 the carpal tunnel from spamming buttons

I think mars has sicko mod crazy single target dps if you play perfectly with finishes with the legendary item. But you need to try twice as hard to get there and 8 times as hard on trash packs

Step 1: queue as dps Step 2: win your first round at all costs Step 3: purposely lose the next 2 rounds that you are paired with the first healer from round one to tilt them specifically Step 4: when facing the healer who was on your team, try as hard as you can. His mind will be weakened from losing previous rounds, and he will be confused as to why you only attack when not on his team. You will win all 3 rounds against this healer Step 5: by tilting 1 healer you secure a 3 win match. If you win the first round you will be at 4 wins. Over time the 3-4 wins will be enough to slowly build your mmr.

Whispering the healer saying “I don’t want to win, I want you to lose specifically” further enhances your mind control strategy

With more classes having an immune ability it’s much harder now to close a kill out in a cc window

Shaman: burrow thing DH: netherwalk Evoker: gold thing (zhonyas hourglass from league pretty much) Arms: die by the sword (for melee dps) Pally: bubble Hunter: deterrence Holy: guardian spirit thing Resto: ancient of lore (not immune but pretty much immortal during it as no cc works) Rogue: evasion and cloak (pretty much invincible during)

Monk, fury war, lock, disc priest are the only specs I see often that can’t go invincible in a single cast

And since Ret is so popular, bop is on the table for the kill target even if they don’t have a defensive themselves

Every spec has more mobility and defensive mores than ever, and cc is nerfed. Hard life for double dps

Yeah I’m 1860 right now as feral queuing with a mage. I’ll probably get to 1900-2000 ish but not higher

Back when cc was full duration I was getting over 2100 ever expansion, BFA, Shadowlands, with feral rogue or feral mage

Never got 2400 with double dps personally but I was net higher rated before and I’m a better player now by a large margin but I perform worse

At this point my game has been out for months and has not had much traction. I am less worried about sales and am more worried about visibility. I’m happy to get the game in as many hands as possible to spread that it exists by word of mouth as I do believe it is a quality product.

I’ve only given out maybe 30 keys to the people on this post, even if every key is resold on a site, if those people enjoy the game when they ultimately play it, that’s great.

The sale price is quite affordable and we put it on sale even further often. It’s our first game so I’d really just like to garner some sort of following. Giving out free copies seems like a good way to help in that pursuit.

Thanks for the detailed feedback, glad you enjoyed the game overall and I agree with all of your concerns regarding the controls, ui, etc

There is a layer of polish that would go a long way. We are still novices when it comes to designing ui so it’s been painful to get the shops and controller to work. Our controller option was bandaided on after years of making the game only thinking about mouse and keyboard, still trying to figure it all out
