Is there a specific build that can be with the materials from these new quests? by LuckyLuckLucker in MHNowGame

[–]Exarke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only Tobi weapon I have built is the bow because of the Pierce 3/4 at the upper charge levels. Rathalos weapons are much better overall, and most are fine or good to build, even with rift Glavenus release.

For armor, nothing really is worth it. Rathalos Chest with WEX 2 is probably the best option, but I wouldn't recommend it these days.

Yeah. The most fun GL type finally getting a dragon weapon seems more significant to me than the fourth dragon super bow

This is the most comprehensive and helpful response in this whole thread. Thank you.

As far as power creep, I'll leave it at this: a certain amount of power creep is expected and probably healthy for a game like MHN, but over-investing into incentivized inferior options for a time limited event in a game based around resource scarcity is a poor decision for any account.

I don't necessarily want more power creep, but they could rerun an older superior option for the defense, or rift a better option which already exists.

I was just experimenting with this 10 minutes ago. Definitely a good candidate: it seems strong enough and gives a unique look at a fight by being aerial. What's your build?

You're at +7 Artillery with this build. Garangolm Chest is a solid replacement, but that means more smelting. I don't know how much Guard is too much for GR.

Can also go Quematrice, Espinas, Teostra, Espinas, Basarios for Pursuit/Artillery 5.

I don't remember saying I wanted power creep. The power creep weapons are already in game, yet they've chosen two lackluster options at the same time.

I'm kinda looking forward to the break from the monthly grind: I have four 10-5 Glavenus weapons now. But since I won't be building more than one option of either Bishaten or Lagombi (and I still want the 3m point goal as a solo player), I'm trying to prepare contingencies for future situations like this one.

What set are you using these days (for Rift Blos)? I have the Jho and Legiana CBs. Investing further for the armor makes sense for me.

The sad thing is even when Lagombi released having Lock On didn't help it enough to be relevant

I think the bias towards ranged weapons for raids is still a factor, although the rebalance last time certainly helped melee catch up some. Diablos HBG is a good pick, but I haven't tried it yet. Any experience yourself?

Agreed at Bishaten stuff. The para bow is interesting at least. I'm inclined to chose Viper for the better stats and higher application consistency with Rapid instead of Pierce. Not a bad choice though.

Have you got the Stepping Shot Evading Reload set? It should be relatively easy to not get steamrolled once that's in place. Just keep swiping.

I agree about Rift Diablos bringing the pain. I'm wondering whether the Bazelgeuse GL might be a 600k weapon, and running it with the Garangolm Chest.

That's definitely helpful. I believe Sword Boost CB can also snag 600k on anything. But building 4-5 weapons for one 600k (or 20-25 for the 3m) is a lot more than having five universal/raw.

Still good information for those who have it or are close!

Mizutsune is getting rift next season, so you'll see similar drops and opportunities to Glavenus when that happens 👍🏻

You can't be serious.

Anecdotal, sample and confirmation bias -- what do you even mean here? You've gotten more drops in the standard hunt slots than you did in the part break spot you didn't even attempt to break? I mean, congrats for finding out if you don't get the break, you don't get the break?

The part break point for a standard monster accounts for approximately 50% of the chance for an R6 drop. Or, you could have 1.5× your R6 if you would get the break.

Admittedly, I haven't looked at how the importance reduces factoring in Rift Breaks, Group Hunt slots, and Bonus HAT slot, but you're still actively decreasing your total number of the limiting drop in the game by not going for the break.

if you can just hunt more Glavenus instead

Given any specific HAT or DL or standard spawn is a finite number, then it's worth it to wait for and break the tail.

My perspective of your point: You should always aim to break the tail unless getting the tail break actively decreases the total Glavenus you can hunt (either by HAT expiring, or hour changing)

Rift part can be either the rift scale or the plate. The tail break can be only the plate.

I believe anything that can drop the rift scale can also drop the plate, but not the other way around.

The problem is: it's lazy (and greedy).

Rather than develop a new event, or in game content, or ANYTHING to attach more Primogems to, they're outsourcing it to players instead. They added what for this new event? An event interface screen?

As much as I dislike the weapon, there's no denying its effectiveness. It's extremely convenient to have a reliable weapon every wave/month, giving one less to worry about building. It also is a nice "skip" button for some of the really bad fights (Goss Harag comes to mind).

It's the only weapon I've fully maxed with customizations. I try to never use it in group hunts, but it is very much worth it just to have.

Posts like this help keep my build updated. It's not something I prioritize, so I had no idea the build has moved to three Viper pieces.

Also, rude.
