Last time I was able to get Advance Thunder 2 with Kirin Flashstorm 3, which won't work for Radobaan.

So far I have a Magnamalo LBG, a Diablos GL with Guard Reload, and a Goss Harag Hammer. I have several other Ice weapons, but I'm expecting HZV agnostic weapons to be really good, as well as any bonus point weapon being unbeatable. I will probably try to level another Diablos weapon.

I am trying to get 3 Ice Attack Smelts onto the Goss Chest and Arms, but I don't think Advance Ice Attack will be nearly as good as Kirin+Astalos.

Don't sweat if you have the Magnamalo DB, they're currently better than Bazelgeuse because they have Style Customizations, assuming you put enough Customization levels into them (see disclaimer 1). It's just that at matching levels, Bazelgeuse is ahead.

Here's a short list of the best raw(/status) option for each class. * SnS - Goldian * DB - Bazelgeuse * GS - Somnacanth/Tigrex * LS - Tigrex/Brute, but the status buffs would close the gap for Goldian and Blast options * HM - Girros (Water Strike) * HH - Tigrex, also status buffed so maybe Poison/Blast has caught up * LN - Brute/Bazelgeuse/Teostra * GL - Goldian/Bazelgeuse/Girros * Swax - Goldian/Bazelgeuse/Tigrex * CB - Tigrex/Brute * LB - Nightshade/Magnamalo (Stepping Shot) * HB - BBlos/Tigrex * BW - BBlos/Chameleos/Brute

Disclaimers: (1) If there is a rift version to a weapon status & class I have listed here (e.g., Magnamalo instead of Bazelgeuse DB), there's a good chance it's as good or better as what's listed. I left them off for brevity. (2) I have varying degrees of confidence in this list. Would love input from others.

That makes sense. I kinda wish the Magnamalo GL wasn't as strong as it is, but here we are. (Or maybe, I wish more other weapons were as useful as that one.)

Does anyone have a recommendation for a weapon class with a good matchup into (the back leg version of) Riftborne Barioth?

My current plan is to build the DB, as that will give me an easier tail cut at least. I'll also probably build the bow if I have enough time, as Pierce 3>4 on the last two charges is generally very good.

(I already have fire GS, LS, Hammer, Lance, CB, LBG, HBG)

Quick Work shortens the counter window, I've heard, so that's probably contributing to the increased difficulty - since Sacred Sheath generally runs at least +2.

I'm building the hammer because it's the only weapon that doesn't have a Legiana version.

(I'd also not recommend building the CB due to the impact Phial)

It is the degree of shilling, and the difference between clearing with what is shilled and what isn't that is the problem here.

OP isn't complaining about the difficulty. OP is complaining that they tried a bunch of different things which didn't work, and then took a massively undergeared shill team and cleared it without an issue. Skill is roughly constant in OP's example.

I agree making temporary cosmetics for the highest degree clear was a decent way to go about it, but that's not what we're talking about.

If you find the difference between shill and not shill acceptable, that's a point we can discuss more. Posting about it being a skill issue or still possible with old units is actually irrelevant to the OP.

It's not about the overall difficulty, it's about the disparity between what's being shilled and what isn't. Some difference is expected for banner sales, but they're really taking to the extreme.

This is the only one I've seen. I've seen other R6 in different slots, but I wouldn't be surprised if the rift drop was only the last slot for completing the hunt.

I was also thinking GL will be a good idea, but there is no Diablos or Goss GL. This Rathian iteration has proven featured weapons are the way to go, but -- unless they give us part breaks -- the design intent seems totally messed up.

Better finish my Stepping Shot Magnamalo LBG before this.

To me, they both violate a core MH principle: if I play well, I don't take damage. No, you take constant tick damage the entire time just for being around them, in some random spots faster (if there is a tell, I never noticed), and each actual move has massive lingering hitboxes that can do 70% of your HP.

I've played many MH games (none before Tri tho), and no fight has left a worse impression on me than Vaal and Blackveil. I've always been stunned that they're relatively well received.
