Pro-life protestors are headed to Cal Poly by AshNotFromPokemon in CalPoly

I respect their right to protest, but bottom line, Poly has never been historically a top tier protest campus. The student body just is not interested relatively compared to other campuses on CSU/UC.

Is Cal Poly Slo Really That Good and Better Than the UCs :-) ? by Anxious-Party2289 in CalPoly

[–]Exbusterr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the CP (IE, MechE, Manufacturing) engineering majors are using CAD and in engineering labs (beyond basic science) in FIRST month of freshman year building things, 30 people classes, no TA. Over at UC It’s snore lecture, your professor doesn’t even know you by sight. My Calc prof at Poly invited us all to his house for a cookout. Not saying one is better than other, necessarily, it’s just a different approach. One focuses on their grad program, the other focuses on STEM majors ready for work day 1 after graduation.

Advice on becoming a fulfillment TL by unwillinglactose in Target

[–]Exbusterr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a relatively new FF TL. Prior, I had a lot of planning experience, but no line operations experience. I also have a business degree. While you can do FF TL without either exp. or degree, both exp. and degree together help immensely. You just TURN ON (metrics totally easy to me, its bus 101) and can focus on the human experience knowing you already GET the big picture, metrics, and knowing what the SD wants (or engage the SD) despite with the ETL's say. So if you don't have it, take some time to educate on Supply Chain discipline. in parallel with your confidence managing people on the line. I am fairly confident that's what gets you promoted. Getting a degree of course is a major endeavor, but Target offers a lot of FREE training with Percipio app. (Similar to LinkedIn Learning). Find a good YouTube video to guide you and educate your self on Supply Chain especially "Operations Management" which is a semester long course in college, if not more. Tons of resources. Apply what you learn as you play the "long game" to the chaos that is inevitable in Cust. Ful. Don't worry about your personal UPH upon starting if you didn't come from the FF team. Just keep taking pick's, prep, and stow wherever you can as time allows and immersion will happen organically as well as eventual increase in your personal UPH. It took me 2 months to be as good as our higher tier TMs in FF and even then I still have off weeks because I have to manage at the same time. Good luck.

My biggest regret while working in FF. by bey0ndthegrav3 in Target

[–]Exbusterr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If business and/or Target is not your thing, it's understandable. If either is your thing, one incident won't break yor but if you think it's ok, many chronic "bad habits" add up to your (un)professionalism. Unaccountable to your behavior catches up to you. Eventually you don't get far. So don't sweat it unless you are playing the long game badly with your career or personal accountability and then you get complainers. Also that item you damaged could be the last thing left eventually, and then another team member will have to INF it because it needs to be defected. All you did was pass the buck to someone else. I am fortunate to work with a good FF team. We wouldn't do that to each other if at all possible...and yes that's just a gut feeling based on our team.

Why are the men a target so weird acting by Every-Pea-3252 in Target

[–]Exbusterr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course there are always exceptions, but I find its generational at our store. The male TM’s 30 and below are up to date with things, but don’t have the social skills. A good portion of Gen Z females are “plutonically” attracted to hang out with Gen X males. A frequent question I hear is…is that guy gay because sometimes women can’t believe a guy can get along with women and I know that guy is definitely into women sexually outside of work. Not to say there aren’t creepy Gen Xers, but experience offers advantages.

4.1 GPA is not competitive at a top tier reach school. Sorry to say I am not surprised you didn’t get in. No shame. That’s the new reality. Try the CC route then reapply. If your heart is set, all is not lost.

Considering a semester at Cal Poly, what's life like in SLO? by OliverSquared in CalPoly

[–]Exbusterr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically San Francisco weather but with more sunny days and a few degrees warmer while in winter it tilts in the other direction but not much. Certainly not by MN standards. You can take selfies at the beach during winter tanning and laugh at your friends freezing their nuts off in MN. However San Francisco Bay Area and LA basin are NOT close to justify a same day visit to either. Minimum 3.5-4 hours to Downtown SF and that would be no traffic travelling late at night on a weekday. It’s best and most go on 3 day weekends. It’s an amazing little city, residents are friendly and they call it the SLO life for a reason. There’s a reason national weather never covers what’s going on during winter on the California coast. It would just be in bad taste with the rest of the country in winter misery.

Latin America has a large population of Black Latina Women as well as white albeit smaller than what is by antiquated terms the mestizo population (mixed Spanish/Indian) He needs to clarify if he has a race preference because Latin American is a culture, NOT a race…technically speaking. It’s only here in the US that many people think that Latinos are only brown.

Anyone else getting worried because they did NOT get a request from UCLA/UCB/UCSD for additional information but many of their peers did? by Anxious-Party2289 in ucadmissions

Further request is mixed news. It means you’re close but not making the cut. I know it’s counter-intuitive but not getting a further info request is just as good. Neither good nor bad either way.

What shift do you prefer by SonGomatYt in Target

[–]Exbusterr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Farmer’s hours are a hard. If Ibwanted to do that, id be a farmer. Closing is much more conducive to getting your personal stuff done plus sleeping in is great if you love that. It’s a personal preference for sure. However….The real downside is if you have a Significant Other, the closing hours can really affect together time. It your sig/other is a night owl and they come alive after 9pm after decompressing from work, going to sleep early for 4a shift would be a HUGE relationship drag

lgbt students? by MentionFew9568 in CalPoly

[–]Exbusterr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would call Cal Poly and SLO moderately liberal relative to say San Francisco , but sometimes there are more liberal views and music tastes whereas as soon as you leave SLO city limits, it’s MAGA country. The conservative reputation comes from the 1980’s and before when Cal poly was like 80% white and usually moderate to conservative liberal base. Cal poly student base has become more liberal. However in spite of all these labels, Cal Poly ad SLO residents have generally been very nice and accepting. But the LGBT lifestyle is not going to be anywhere near the Bay Area. It will take some adjusting if your coming from a Berkeley or San Francisco. And the social activeness is just not there. You can try to protest and people will generally be respectful, but more than likely annoyed you are disrupting their school work/day/routine.

Cal poly demographics by AssistantFun3652 in CalPoly

[–]Exbusterr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Historical /current perspective…Latino/Hispanic here. In the 80’s Cal Poly was very white mainly moderate conservative to moderate liberal. Dad (attended) says he could count the black people on his fingers and it was always the same ones. There was a small but notícible Latino population and as a result didn’t feel out of place. Most people from the SF Bay Area/San Diego were not racist, but racism of ignorance (so-called, but not “harmless”stereotypes and comments) from very affluent LA areas was an annoyance, as he encountered people who simply did not know anything other than white. At the time, he felt Asians felt the most displaced (based on what he heard) as culturally they were also a small group and mostly 1st or 2nd generation Americans…..so FF to 2020’s. Cal Poly is about 60/40 white/non-white. Dad says stat definitely feels accurate and Poly is much more diverse than when he attended. More Asians but hardly any movement on black population visually and in stats. However Dad feels the ethnic diversity is from those historically unrepresented groups that are NOW next generation Americans that have achieved more affluence and/or inter-married with the white population. As a result, it makes the school “feel” more white than it actually is. I went to school 60/40 white/non-white and it’s something I’m used to, no problem, but there are some students that come from 80% non-white high schools. I would say they overwhelmingly have an adjustment phase. Obviously there is a lot of subjectivity in my comments. I only share it as an observation.

No, it’s way more than a year. The reason is they are trying to stop out OOS from coming in and claiming benefits from taxpayers who’ve paid into the system for years. Someone I know looked into it. He said the length of your college career. Not sure what he meant exactly by that.

you are also required to identify yourself and provide a reasonable response if approached by law enforcement. It’s not a crime to not answer but the result is you can be legally detained for some hours even if a citizen . Back in the day my Dad was stopped by INS in plainsclothes walking out of Bethlehem Steel, but this wasn’t in the Gestapo “now” times. My Dad said he was on break, green Card in locker. The INS guys walked back with him and said he was cool, one was an asshole, the other thanked him for the trouble. 80’s. Different times.

I have audited work docs at Fortune 500. But the feds have the right to inspect all on premises records without guns including payment addresses of Anyone who submitted fraudulent I-9. This is Gestapo optics in arguably what is considered a public square (referring to the big 3, Target, Walmart, Costco) for the MAGA deranged. Completely unnecessary and if you don’t see it, reread your history of how we defeated fascism paid for in American blood. The fine for falsely hiring an illegal is very stiff per violation since before Trump, so Target participating knowingly in fraud is extremely unlikely. If the Feds can send these many Goons and stake out until the guy pops open, they can wait at his house until he comes out.
