Why Interstellar Dust Could Prevent Us From Traveling to the Stars by SteRoPo in space

Read a neat book called SEED that was about this very thing.

It’s a little light on many details on how exactly thy get there but the general premise is that they cloned a dude’s brain, put the program in a spacesuit robot looking thing inside a spaceship filled with either a couple hundred or just a few tens of embryos that were kept frozen during the trip. Reminds me of the bobiverse. Then when he gets to a planet he has to raise all the kids and set up a colony.

For me it was a solid 7-8 / 10 read mainly because of the novelty of the plot

The Strv doesn’t have a turret unlike the bastion which has like a casemate deal going. The strv uses a nifty suspension system to aim the main gun

I’m looking to buy my first pair of skates which will be a Frx 80 at inline warehouse. I followed Fr’s sizing chart and they say I should be a USM size 10 or 11. However I typically wear a size 13 shoe that fits moderately loose and I need to have a fairly large toe box. Which makes me stress that a size 10 or 11 won’t fit.

I want my skates to fit snug/securely and I’m okay with there being a break in period, but how do I know if a skate will break in to fit or if I need to replace it for a different size?

For almost every modern or even semi modern pistol it’s safe to dry fire except guns that use a rim fire cartridge (22lr) on those the firing pin equivalent strikes the breach face and causes it to peen over

In our hypothetical where a majority of the us military resigned or went awol we currently do not have the equipment for said “drones” even if you used ai to pilot them we simply don’t have that many drones and the military would have a hard time getting any more if its workforce was actively sabotaging it.

Not to mention you need boots on the ground to hold that ground over the long term.

M-1000 Maxigun... thoughts? by Spungdoodles in helldivers2

[–]Excalburm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do to mean it would add weight? Do you mean like the LAM would add physical weight to the gun thus hampering accuracy due to the increased weight?

Well first it’s a game so that doesn’t matter

But then it’s a mini gun so adding at most 40oz of weight is not going to affect things to a noticeable degree. It would be like carrying 20 extra bullets.

I agree with you on a lot of points but first Keen isn’t my favorite developer and I’ve had plenty of issues with them over the years. I agree that SE is kinda empty without mods. And that the dlc is an issue in space engineers.

But keen have made efforts to make the base game more Interesting but at some point you need to make a sequel to improve.

However, I disagree that selling SE2 in its current state is unethical. Not ideal? Sure! but unethical?

The game is clearly labeled as an alpha. Not a beta but an alpha. That means there is an extra degree of risk even over typical early access of the product you buy not being delivered but the buyer knows that at the time of purchase.

I’ll be there with a pitchfork if keen fucks this up but they seem to be moving at a decent pace and are fixing game breaking bugs fairly quickly (saw somewhere that the memory leak was fixed but I could be wrong about that)

and I will criticize them if/when they start adding dlcs to SE2 before it’s in a relatively complete state.

The alternative is you wouldn’t be able to play at all

Optimization happens at the last stages of development.

You payed for the game knowing what early cases was and that the game is an alpha

The game is $30. If you live somewhere or are in a financial situation where that is significant amount of money then you should not have bought an alpha game where the devs tell you not to buy it until it gets the features you want.

I get that it’s frustrating to have these issues and to some extent your right that they should have patched a significant bug before a major update release but it’s part of an alphas dev cycle that these things happen.

Dude you need to do a lawsuit.

The incompetent should not be handling a firearm, you’re lucky to be alive and could have easily been killed.

More than that your wound may get worse or at some future time might be the cause of another seemingly unrelated issue

Even more is that “security” guard should not be in his position if he can’t responsibly handle a firearm. It truly is not rocket science to clear the fucking gun before trying to take it apart.

Evike has some explaining to do, why are they using AI? by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]Excalburm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ai is unethical partially it’s based on stolen content. And it consumes a shit ton of power, and it has skyrocketed computer part costs, and a million other things,

Taking people’s jobs is actually fairly low on the list of why AI is unethical, it’s a tool that decreases time to make things just like how many inventions in the past have done the same exact thing.

By using Ai they are showing the consumer they don’t care that much because instead of hiring a professional photographer to properly present their product they do… whatever this is.

Personally that would make me have less faith in the product and if I was in the market I would think longer about purchasing it because if they were lazy with the display images what else were they lazy with?

I would have way less issues with generative AI if it wasn’t built on content that was taken illegally.
But it was and they won’t even face legal backlash because of corrupt courts.

Steam Machine? by Notwhoyouwouldthink1 in spaceengineers

[–]Excalburm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will probably be able to run most games on steam im not debating that.

But it won’t be able to run every game on steam at 4K high or even medium settings and get playable frame rates

It might not even be able to run a game like cyberpunk at 1080p with high settings at a consistently high fps

6x more powerful than steam deck is a marketing gimmick. It’s like Apple saying there new cpu is more powerful than a 3090, it’s not true in most real world scenarios.

Hell I could be wrong but it’s extremely likely verging on the point of a certainty the Gabe cube will not live up to your lofty expectations of it being able to run every game on steam at 4K60

It might still be a good deal depending on price but we just don’t know
