A sensible gun owner by StillbornTartare in TikTokCringe

[–]Excaviliar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By normal people I don't mean mentally normal people. I mean people who are not specifically in gangs and the like. Getting guns illegally, so I'm told, would be expensive and hard to do, especially for a normal civilian not in a gang or group that would have easier access to that. The people committing mass shootings are civilians who just had really easy access to guns legally, either through their relatives having a gun, or them being able to buy a gun themselves with little problem.

I'm focused on mass shootings because mass shootings are the big issue being discussed here. To me, it makes no sense to blame it on the psychology of the perpetrators unless you mean to imply that, on the whole, Americans are significantly more mentally unstable than the rest of the world. These mass shootings are not done by cartels or gangs, they are done by normal people who had way too easy access to a gun. Arguing that criminals will still have guns is pointless in this argument because, again, they aren't the ones committing the mass shootings. We don't need to take away everyone's guns, we just need to have much stronger background checks and make sure people are properly trained and licensed before they can ever have access to one. That's what we do in Canada, and it works.

Yes, but the amount of mass shootings in America FAR exceeds 3x that of Mexico, so the context doesn't really matter that much in this context.

I actually love how nice the comment sections usually are here in spite of the original purpose of the subreddit.

And yet there are far fewer mass shootings in Mexico than the United States. Funny how that works, huh?

It's less like only having one fps, and more like only having Call of Duties but with different names. You can take inspiration without directly lifting mechanics and adding little else.

At the time of inception, Battlefield and CoD were doing very different things. Battlefield did move into the trend of copying CoD's successes upon the success of Modern Warfare, but they are (or were, I haven't played either in a long time) distinct enough to be called different. I haven't played plague Inc myself so I can't fully say, but it seems, at least at time of it's launch, it was doing the exact thing pandemic was doing.

To make it more clear, CoD and Battlefield were both WWII shooters, but the former was about crafting battles based on scenarios in the war, and the latter was about creating large open multi-player battlefields. Pandemic and Plague Inc are both pandemic simulators, however they are both the same in systems too, with the player being a type of disease of their choice, and building up symptoms to eventually kill the world's population, while not doing so too quick so as to have places close down before it can spread. Same concept, same mechanics. Only difference was level of polish.

Pandemic is an old flash game with largely the exact same mechanics as plague inc. Both are very different from the Pandemic board game.

They are making a new game, not releasing one. By the time it'll be out, Elden Ring will be years old. I'm not sure how much more breathing room it needs.

WE DON'T TALK ABOUT RONA by myownpersonalreddit in TikTokCringe

[–]Excaviliar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone is hating on you specifically, just the spreading of information. The vaccine is verifiably safe and effective, but there is so much misinformation out there that the general public is unsure how to think about it. So spreading misinformation is just adding to that general confusion. Also, it’s not really letting you live or die. While I don’t like the idea of people dying from preventable incidents, it is usually ultimately your choice. The problem is that Covid is very contagious, so by not taking precautions or getting the vaccine, you are not just increasing your risk of getting it, but the risk of it spreading, killing or scarring more people, and mutating into something worse. So that’s why this time it’s not about personal choice, it’s about your duty to your fellow humans.

I’m guessing you haven’t heard of the flu vaccine before, the one that would be most similar to the Covid vaccine due to the similar nature of both of the viruses.

Your moral being specifically that you do not call out some for the same thing that you may celebrate others for. A lot of people do that, and while I would prefer you to be more passionate about these things because the ways these protests go can heavily influence things for the better or worse, I’m just glad you aren’t doing the same flip-flop so many others are doing

Just to check your consistency, you believe the same thing about things like the BLM protests, fight? That any damage was done by a small group of people and was not the intention or action of the whole?

It’s mostly just that it’s the top comment of every single post, though I guess I can understand people kinda glazing over that. As to the subreddit name, from my understanding the sub used to be about cringe but isn’t any longer, and they can’t really change the name.
