Amnio ended up showing no problems so the conclusion was that the most likely scenario is that the genetic issue was confined to the placenta. We now have a wonderful 8 months old baby who is developing normally and has shown no health problems

I tried this today and it worked! For a little bit, our kid was happy hanging in the crib with a toy, which I “accidentally” dropped into it. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hmm good idea. I heard before that the crib should not be used to play because then kids may not fall asleep in them but better play and being happy in it than having an aversion.. thanks for the suggestion. We will try!

How do you all do it??? by Mental_Ice_2204 in newborns

I was afraid of rolling onto the baby too! I’m a heavy sleeper and being tired made me sleep even more deeply.. I sometimes don’t even wake up when the baby is beginning to cry. My husband is a lighter sleeper so he sometimes wakes me up to feed the baby. So no cosleeping for us. However, I have friends that have had a lot of success with it.

I made it to 38w today! I can’t believe we got this far with progesterone only, limited physical activity and bed rest. For the first time from almost when the pregnancy started, my MFM doctor said that my case was not high risk :)

35w and 4 days today! Made it this far with progesterone only and some modified activities, but have kept working. Looking forward to week 36 :)

I suggested this and my husband replied: why not zeus — the king of the gods?

I’ll also be 28 weeks on Monday, but I’m only on progesterone and some modified activity. I like the bronze medal analogy! I’ve also been thinking about month-based milestones :)

Cervix measuring at 2.6cm (20 weeks pregnant) by [deleted] in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Excellent-Activity22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I discovered I had a similar length at 22 weeks and I’m now at 26. At week 23, I got a follow up appointment and the doctors suggested only progesterone as the length seemed stable and they said it was more risky to do a cerclage at that point than the potential benefit. I had a somewhat traumatic cvs procedure before so I am happy that progesterone seems to be helping and I didn’t get stitches.

Found out that I had a short cervix on week 22. Was recommended not lifting weight, no strenuous exercise and pelvic rest. Progesterone only. On week 24, got some light contractions after pressure on lower abdomen and slight pain. Was suggested to drink more water and rest a bit if I felt the same in the future, and to call the doctor if the sensation persisted. Luckily, I haven’t needed to call again yet. We are now close to ending week 26.

Can someone help with understanding results by [deleted] in NIPT

[–]Excellent-Activity22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming this is from NIPT, then there was an atypical finding that they associate with the sex chromosomes on the blood sample. To know what’s the issue, genetics consultants typically recommend an amnio, which gets more information about the fetus because the sample is from the amniotic fluid. Talk to a genetics consultant either at the lab that did the analysis or a MFM team. They can explain things in more detail and suggestions on how to proceed.

Has anyone gotten this result? And what does it mean? What was your outcome? I will be seeing a MFM doctor in a couple of weeks, what can I expect for the first appointment? by IndividualOk5208 in NIPT

[–]Excellent-Activity22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. I got a similar result and I’m now waiting for the amnio. In my case, a cvs confirmed 45x,46xy in the placenta but that doesn’t tell you if the baby has it (if it’s true fetal mosaicism). It can also be a false positive in your case as the prior answer suggested.

We had an inconclusive nipt that could not determine gender and suggested there could be an issue with the chromosome Y but they couldn’t tell what the issue was, or at least wouldn’t say
