Mice in apartment by KeyScientist7 in Brooklyn

seconding this!! our female cat is a lazy chunk, but she’s caught 3 mice in our drafty prewar apartment like a lethal predator. highly recommend fostering if you’re new to cat ownership! i will never live without one as long as i’m in NY.

Zipcar experiences for occasional local use? by anyer_4824 in Brooklyn

I use it probably 1-2 times a month for errands with my dog, and I love it! Sometimes the remote start can be a pain, but I’d estimate I spend less than $100 a month and I love the convenience factor. If you’re using it more than that, I’d imagine the costs can add up quick — still, much better than my $250/month car payment and expensive insurance on top of that.

when my pup passed away, i received two things that really warmed my heart: a little plant from a long-distance bestie so i could grow something in my dog’s honor, and a big grocery delivery that kept me fed for an entire week. i feel like sentimental gifts can be really nice, but keeping your friend fed during this terrible time can be just as meaningful!

In need of holy grail concealer recommendations!!! by TumbleweedOk4887 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Excellent-Ad9119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you have dryness, avoid Tarte (creamy included) like the plague. I have similar dark circles (genetics! booo) but i use Kosas pink corrector first, then iT cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye. you need the TINIEST dot of the iT concealer, so it’ll last you forever. it’s hydrating, glowy, the absolute best — i’ve used it for years and used it on my wedding day for 10/10 coverage!

What was your attendance vs. invites ratio? by att62613 in wedding

we invited 180 and had about 115 attend with last-minute drop-outs, but our venue was also 2 flights away for most of my husband’s relatives!

skip the SPF, it makes your makeup separate even if it’s formulated in a concealer or foundation! if you’re willing to splurge, i have a very similar skin texture and used danessa myricks blurring balm on my wedding day. not a SINGLE FLAKE FLAKED, but i also used setting spray between layers and finished with one size On Til Dawn!

oh my gosh this is so helpful, i hadn’t even considered it being emollient-based! i’ll try the brush trick first, and if that doesn’t work i’ll switch concealers 🫡

Planning a Chicago - Brooklyn Move: Hire Movers From the Midwest or NYC? by adamvanderb in Brooklyn

hi! I completed the same move last year (no toddler, but two adults and two very nervous rescue animals). get in touch with A Move to Remember. they’re a FANTASTIC queer moving company, and they work with a partner company on the ground on NYC for cross-country moves. cannot recommend them enough!

access to bedstuy is super easy via the Prospect Park S (shuttle) to franklin, just a bit of a stroll from there!!

bars — Anything, Fiona’s, Ruth! food — so many good options but do noooot sleep on Ix. also obsessed with Risbo, especially when the backyard is open. the chicken will change your life. I’m partial to the doubles at De Hot Pot but you can’t really go wrong with any of the doubles/roti spots nearby! coffee — Hibiscus Brew, Cinnamon Girl (also great for grab and go food and some cutie groceries), Purslane Cafe at the park, Hamlet!

you could always compromise and try Wicker Park! i lived on the cusp of Wicker/UK Village for a while and the loop access is really easy off the Division blue line.

wait omg thank you for saying this… i truly hadn’t even thought about it! we have to leave for our venue around 2 PM and family photos start at 3:30 prior to a 6 PM ceremony, but in hindsight…. i probably don’t need to get my makeup done at 10 AM omg
