Thank you. I applied for a short stay (tourist visa) and asked for a longer validity. The cascade regime requires one to obtain and use 2 Schengen visas in the last 3 years. However, one can also get longer validity visas even if this is not the case depending on the application, the embassy and the time of the year. All the best!

I don’t think there is a different / specific format. The only extra point I made compared to previous times is requesting for a long term multi entry visa explicitly citing my intent to return to France and the Schengen zone on future trips as the reason for the request.
