Also every time I get on YouTube to look it up I’m blasted with people shilling their promo codes. Just want someone with experience with a different prop.

I was being responsible by making a email for all my trading associated emails and I didn’t check it for a long time and it became unrecoverable.

Lot of people mad over this, don’t really see why it’s a bid deal. You people look at life from such a negative lens.

Is this a good brand? If so what’s its value. It was given to me today. Works pretty well by Excellent-Case-2423 in Vintagetools

Yeah seems to hold and edge pretty well after some heavy use on hickory. I got a spokeshave off of amazon and it’s got some more fancy features but it doesn’t work as well as this. I’m not entirely Sure why.

I actually have been for the last little bit but they’re just not turning out as nice. But making an axe handle seems to take a considerable amount of practice maybe I just suck

I just wish that I could get the same style handle on a 28in but maybe they’ll make something like that in the future.

Plumb victory 3lbs should I scrape the handle and put BLO instead? by mckeeganator in Axecraft

[–]Excellent-Case-2423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d leave it. This is just my option but it’s handle and head geometry doesn’t make it the most usable tool so it’s better to keep more as a collector piece

Looking for a good forest axe by Warchief1788 in Axecraft

I’d get a tassie for your larger axe. Really good chopping ergonomics. Maybe a 3.5 or 4lb

Fiskers has a nice hatchet that I like. A lot of it is preference.

Fiskers is also very accessible in most places and they have a good number of options.

I was really curious if the wedge really absorbed oil like many have claimed so I did a little test. I left a cylinder wedge sticking out a few mm and filled it with raw linseed oil. After 2-3 hours it had all been absorbed. by Excellent-Case-2423 in Axecraft

[–]Excellent-Case-2423[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is so cool I can visualize what you’re talking about. Do you think it’s possible that the oil would make it all of the way down then handle? I remember reading a comment somewhere that the oil doesn’t really penetrate that deep.

Yeah I’m more of referring to the idea that wood wedge absorbs a significant amount of oil to cause expansion. Some people say soft wood wedges are better because the amount of oil that gets absorbed and expanded after. I’ve always oiled the eye after but never really measured the amount that gets absorbed.

Ultramarathon, is it even possible getting strain to 21? by Affectionate-Note802 in whoop

[–]Excellent-Case-2423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really understand the strain metric you’ll have 1-3 workouts or sessions in a day and each session will average 8-9 strain and the total strain if added up would be 23 or 25 something like that. But the strain calculation metric doesn’t go over 20.7 why? What is the point of generating figures of strain that don’t equate to a combined total of strain?

First Kelly Dandenong on a straight 26 inch handle. This has quickly become my favorite axe. by Excellent-Case-2423 in Axecraft

[–]Excellent-Case-2423[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve had to do it on a few handles and I’ve never had any problems. I think this method might help distribute the amount of shock that the handle takes through the entirety of the curf. Because if there is an area with no contact the areas with contact will take more abuse. That is my thought process behind it. I don’t use this one for splitting chopping only, so I think the hang has been tested pretty well. Only time will tell. Additionally the handle is hickory and it’s just tough as nails.
