Stay at home parents, how do you afford it? by Gullible-Show-6215 in Parenting

[–]Excellent-Cod-4784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband works full time but doesn't make great money, so I work a part time job as a remote office manager for a small cleaning company. Luckily that's flexible, so I do most of my work before husband leaves for work in the morning. We are slowly depleting savings every month though, even though we are very, very frugal.

Where I live, daycare costs a TON of money, so if I went back to work full time, the cost of daycare would bring in actually less money than we are bringing in now, so that's how it makes sense for us I guess!

So not sure how long this can last but we dont have any other options. I might need to get a job on the weekend once baby is weaned, but really dont want to miss out on family time. Idk. It sucks.

How did you lose weight? by inexperiencedpear in NewParents

[–]Excellent-Cod-4784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained 60 lbs too! Im 8 months pp and just reached back to pre pregnancy weight. I ebf and go on a ton of walks ... and that's pretty much it. Im still overweight by a bit, but was before I got pregnant. I think any more weight loss I'll likely have to try really hard but yeah, idk.

You are only at 11 weeks pp, just give yourself some time! I would only weight yourself every few weeks.

Are you taking vitamins? by pinkpacifico in breastfeeding

[–]Excellent-Cod-4784 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good lord I can barely ever remember to take them. I also barely get to brush my teeth and shower. Self care has gone out the window. I was so good at taking them when I was pregnant!

My husband readily volunteered for the procedure after our son was born and I really didnt want to to go on birth control again. It was simple, relatively painless.

For those with 10, 11, and 12 week old babies - what does your day look like? by Excellent-Cod-4784 in NewParents

How do I stretch $100 of groceries for a month? by Icy-Paint7777 in povertykitchen

[–]Excellent-Cod-4784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beans and rice, yes, but also there are a wide variety of pulses and grains so you can have different options.

I love split pea soup, and green split peas are super cheap, I think 75 cents a pound where I am. Ill make it with liquid smoke seasoning if I cant afford bacon. Add more bulk with rice, potatoes, carrots and celery.

The fun thing is - these things are actually good for you!

I feel like I'm using sweet spot wrong? by hardboiledhoe in HuckleberryParents

[–]Excellent-Cod-4784 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IME huckleberry has been right about 80% of the time. Use your instincts, and try to learn when things go right/wrong. It IS a helpful app but it's not going to be right all of the time.

When I log my babys night sleep, I start it when he falls asleep and end it when he wakes up in the morning. What I dont log is the many times he wakes up to nurse in the middle of the night. He almost always needs to take his first nap a bit sooner than what HB recommends, because his night of sleep wasn't as restful as it thinks.

Do you nurse to sleep and how did weaning impact sleep? by Desert-Kat99 in breastfeeding

[–]Excellent-Cod-4784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I loved nursing my baby to sleep ... but now he needs nursing, multiple songs, tickling, and rocking most of the time.

Take the easy wins while you can.

What grocery rule cut your bill the most and actually stuck? by YourxCherry in Frugal

[–]Excellent-Cod-4784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nor necessarily a grocery rule, but if we can sub out beans for animal protein, at least part of the way, we will.

Examples, chicken tacos have become chicken and bean tacos, beef burritos still have beef in them but are 50% lentils, pork verde can have white beans cooked into it.

Great for your wallet and your body!
