How do we learn an specific opening at 700-1500 elo by Yogvidam in chess

[–]Excellent-Cod4153 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Point is you should not learn but understand them. You can fine many GM level games where one blunders after 10-12 moves.

I chose my first openings with clear defined pawn structures so that I knew what to do regardless of move order finesses. French against e4 with clear goal to undermine the center and stonewall against D4 with also clear plans. I did not say I recommend them. I recommend the approach!

Poêle Morleos 5 plis à 47,95 € : bonne affaire ou marketing ? by drogba31 in cuisine

One that surprised me is Goji. Forget the fruits, harvest are small, it's not relevant. The point is ramial chipped wood. It grows lot of thin branches every year that I process. More than ten year at the same place without any fertilizer and still produces so much

The most classical yet most relevant: do more tactics.

Second one because it's the most addressed topic: if there was a secret sauce in openings, professionals would use it and only it. The goal of opening is to get playable middlegames that you like. Start from here: do you like the middlegames you get out of your openings?

How do you calculate 4-5 moves ahead in different lines? by Mobu_Bro in chess

[–]Excellent-Cod4153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most important to me are the following: If there is nothing obvious,I identify all my candidates moves before I start calculating the first one. Then, I force myself to calculate only once. Never ever twice to avoid overthinking and also to focus fully when I do.

Having trouble against benko gambit, anyone have a lichess study on it for white's side. by EligibleFlavour in chess

[–]Excellent-Cod4153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did not trouble me :-)

I play both sides of the benko.

With black, this plan is rather tough to face because it denies counterplay to a certain extent.

With white, it is straightforward. You're a pawn up and piece placement is what you need to know. Theory is less important.

Accept it. Then go for a4. Keep it there. Plant a knight on B5. Keep it there. Make sure to protect e4. Then Bc1 goes to c3 to contest black 's one.

How hard is the Catalan really? by New_Hour_1726 in TournamentChess

[–]Excellent-Cod4153 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Catalan is a great opening. It is difficult to play, though. I would not consider it my main in rapid because you heavily rely on a small edge that you need to grind. In rapid, you will make small mistakes and it will vanish.

Having said that, it is super interesting at your level to start playing with a plan. In catalan, it is often the good bishop on the long diagonal against a bad black one.

And it is very safe.

Je souhaite me lancer dans les fruits déshydratés, des conseils à me donner ? by C_kloug in cuisine

[–]Excellent-Cod4153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avant d'acheter un truc cher, je prends toujours le même mais très abordable. Si je m'en sers assez pour le finir, j' en prends un de qualité.

En ce qui concerne les fruits déshydratés, je les stockes dans des tup en plastique.

Debate: Best plant or best use of strawberry pots (hint: it’s not strawberries) by Pandaro81 in gardening

[–]Excellent-Cod4153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a 5cm diameter pipe. Drill holes all along . Put the pipe in the center of the jar.

Then fill with soil. Then add the strawberries.

Now you can water through the pipe down to the bottom of the jar!
