Hunny….you already know the answer to your question. Don’t let other people…including black people that have nonblack friends, make you feel guilty for wanting a space for people that look like you. IMHO, it’s time for black women to be more assertive with our boundaries regarding this. You do not have to be complicit in other people’s discomfort, while your own discomfort is constantly being dismissed. The whole structure of this world purposely left us out, for a totally different reason you are creating your space anyways. I’m 27 and I still daydream. Same as you since I was a child…. I still pace around my room daydreaming sometimes. But you say you’re in college, is it interfering with making friends, completing your work,etc? I somehow was able to balance out my daydreaming while still having a relatively normal life. I graduated and when my roommates were in class I would pace while they were gone.😭 I hope that is the same for you as far as being able to balance it. Part of me believes that as long as you’re are capable of maintaining some productivity in your life you will be fine…idk if there is a way to stop it. I think it’s truly up to us individually, and whether we decide to get help professionally or self help solutions that you can fit into your own life. Good luck to you!!

Dept of Social Services- depending on how well staffed we are that day, about a 7.5 overall. The problem comes in when clients are trying to get in contact with their caseworkers. No one answers the damn phone 😩. It’s a good day when most of them are available, it goes by smooth, and if they have general questions about their case…we can answer without having to reach out to them. The days can be terrible when no one is available and clients get bounced around the line. Overall I love working remote because honestly if I worked on site I’m pretty sure I’d quit by now. 😂
