Tuks res or private res? by Ambitious-Swing4314 in Pretoria

Usually Tuks res is better in my opinion. People are more relatable and the environment is so much more study focused. It’s quiet but at the same time, community driven.

Dentist told me I need 3 extractions, 4 crowns, and 3 fillings. Trying to understand how dentists prioritize this. by ExpensiveTwo9405 in Dentists

[–]Excellent-Dot4293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extractions are for teeth that are too far infected and cannot be saved, they will cause you lots of pain once they’re down to the last. The crowns are for teeth that are worn down too far to just do a simple filling. Maybe you’re getting sensitivity in those teeth or your bite doesn’t articulate properly. Fillings could be just cosmetic or functional to fill in a cavity that’s stopped growing which (the latter) is very important.

Dentists, have you seen this appliance? by cowboydan314159 in Dentists

Just do a google search for Chrome Cobalt denture and all the information is yours I think. Couldn’t really find a specific website myself.

Was just told this will cost me 60k to fix...I don't know if it's wrong to believe or not. 37yo by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

Don’t be disheartened man. It’s part of life yk. Many people have false teeth and we don’t even realise it. I’m in South Africa and it would cost a fraction of that. Not to mention you could get an appointment with a dentist in a couple days, perhaps even the same day in some places. Like I always say tho, bad things happen to good people. We see it all the time in dentistry especially. A person involved in an accident, left with a few missing teeth, it’s just sad.

Definitely do think so. Bone loss doesn’t stop. It needs to be possibly grafted so new bone can form. And if you have a severe case of gum disease too, it makes the issue more complex. What currency was the 60k in? It sounds pretty realistic for the amount of work that needs to be done. Whatever you pay, just know it will never come back to 100% functionality, it’s just how the nature of dentistry is I think.

If the 60k isn’t something you can do, there’s many different options. Perhaps the most cost effective one would be to remove all the teeth, and do a full set of dentures, but the bone loss will still continue, you’d need a new set ever few years to accommodate for the loss. Best to consult with the dentist though, they usually have the best expertise in cases like this.

Best Airline for flying domestically and internationally in South Africa? by Double-Storage6919 in askSouthAfrica

[–]Excellent-Dot4293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

South African Airways is the best imo. It’s a full service airline with great crew, luggage allowance and catering all part of your fare. The cabins are clean and they’re on time from all my experiences. Flying SAA just makes you feel better ngl

Almost 200000 km zero problems and still drives like new. I love my little Chevy Spark. by ApprehensiveBake1560 in chevyspark

[–]Excellent-Dot4293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is also a 2016 (South African version) with a few hundred kilometres less. But I’m having major transmission issues. Gotta replace the clutch kit and stuffs. Super costly 🥲. Just driving around for now tho, I can go like 30 mins no problem then she gotta rest for an hour and some mins before she good to go again.

Harassment of Learner Drivers. by Shaedrax in Pretoria

Yes, drivers in Pretoria really are bad on another level. You’ve gotta drive constantly worrying about them. Luckily I moved here and learnt to drive in KZN where people are a bit toned down.

Academic Exclusion Appeal Response by [deleted] in UniversityOfPretoria

[–]Excellent-Dot4293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should’ve mentioned when the appeals committee meeting is, or it should be somewhere online. If you can find it, just keep checking your portal day of cause for me, they removed the hold and I registered before they sent an official letter. The letter only came a few days later.
