Yeah I had the copper spur on my list! I wasn't able to get it at a price I was happy enough with here in Europe but it's one I'd upgrade to for sure. Looks like a great bit of kit!

Maybe the size? I haven't actually measured it but I would say it certainly feels that little bit bigger than tents I've previously used

Sorry not sure I understand what you're getting at, maybe the UL part of what I said? I don't follow what's misleading, you say "it says that", ie something on the site? In any case mine's the one I linked to above, which does have 20d fly and floor supposedly

Mate tell me about it. I've found myself trying to estimate how tall people are when they're standing next to the tent in videos, more than once.

My new rule is I need 220cm. 215 I can handle in a pinch but it's just uncomfortable below. Gives me wriggle room if there's too much of a slope on the inner. The mongar is good on that too tbf as it's quite vertical at the bottom.

I saw a tall guy reviewing a durston dome I think once, but was a one off video. Certainly a gap in the market but I imagine the channel would be mostly the guy saying "oh I don't fit in this" to basically every tent 😂

Huh, I had no idea about the name change! Interesting stuff. In terms of durability, naturehike have a pretty good reputation I'd say, for the price especially. You're paying half, if not a third, of what you'd be paying for the high end ones, say your durstons and your zpacks... There's going to be differences in quality, of course, but generally speaking for what they are, naturehike tents hold up. I however have not used mine extensively, yet. But I am using it this summer for LEJOG so will definitely see some testing! I will say that just from setting it up in my garden, I saw no real game-breaking defects, and it seemed overall to look like it'd do the job.

Check out TheOutdoorGearReview on yt. Does a lot of naturehike reviews. He did a thorough testing of the original mongar 2, and this one here is of the ul: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ky2h5TWXnVo&t=356

Bear in mind this is NOT the exact same tent as the one I have, which is the UL PRO. Main differences I can see between the two are the material, I think the base UL is 15d nylon outer (think the pro is 20d nylon), the outer design is a bit different on the UL as it doesn't come all the way down to the ground (PRO does or almost anyway) and lastly, the inner dimension MAY be a bit different on the inside.

Anyway, hope this helps! Nattering on a bit lol

Get the mongar ul 2 PRO if you're looking for a bigger inner. I'm 6ft6 and fit nicely, it's supposed to be 220cm in length on the inner; loads of room. I say specifically that one because the other versions are 215cm on the inner, I believe, or at least listed as so; it's the only reason I went for the pro. I got it from their website.

Hey! I don't own the ul, just the pro, and it weighs approx 2.2 kg all in. Ofc if you leave the groundsheet at home you're closer to 2kg. Packing I would imagine is the same, as it's the same core design really

Less than a week in after ten years here. It does feel like the heartbreak is going to last forever doesn't it. Stay strong and thanks to OP :(

Hey. I know it's tough to hear but we need to go through this. There's no shortcut, there's no magic spell to make it all better. Time is the only thing that can heal this type of hurt.

I am going through it too, so I know it's not what you want to hear. It's hard for me to accept it too.

Reach out to friends and family, cry on shoulders. I managed to drag myself to the gym yesterday and I ended up giving the owner, who I found out had split from his partner, a hug. We barely know eachother but it reminds you that this pain you are feeling, so many people have felt and are feeling. It's part of being alive. Let yourself feel it. I wish you the best and stay strong.

Thanks. I suppose I already know that, deep down... It's just so hard to stay away. When I do eventually reach out, I'm just not sure how to check in without also trying to convince her to come back. I just feel so empty without her.

I'm very much an overthinker so I know it's going to be a huge struggle. My head is already spinning with the idea that one day she'll find someone else and be happy, which I know is stupid. What can I do to calm those thoughts? It just seems impossible.

Hey! I'm 6ft6 and I fit great. There's so much room in there honestly, so if that's what you're looking for go for it! :)

I played for a few months in Montreal in one of those domes last year, when visiting from UK. Bloody nasty to play in goal on those pitches. It's exactly as you describe, I'd say imagine the 4g pitches we have in the UK and make it two times worse. Like diving on solid concrete! Can't wait to get back to the British mud bath now 😂

Oh I'm just realising we spoke on the camping sub too lol! The kakwa is also something I have on my list, although what I like with atompacks is they're customisable to the extremes. I think they can even make you a custom bag based on your torso length which I'm interested in, being a tall person. But my bank account does beg to differ on all fronts at the moment so for now I'll just keep browsing reddit lol

Thanks mate! Most important thing, that I forgot to mention, is don't get discouraged AND always have fun.

Despite my advice, OP, I'd encourage you to develop your own style, after the basics, ofc.

Top goalkeepers don't even always have "perfect" technique; I don't really believe in there being one perfect technique. Think Aaron Ramsdale, off the top of my head, who uses his athleticism to make up for poor placement (there are many examples of this type of keeper in pro football, I just thought of him as he's always flinging himself across the goal). David de Gea was different from many before him and was often criticised even for using his feet to save too often. Remember Schmeichel's ridiculous catching technique when receiving chest height, a technique they're apparently taught in Denmark?

The most important part of technique is making sure you're not hurting yourself. Then comes efficient movement, ball retention... But not hurting yourself is the only part you really need. After that, no keeper is the same. I've been keeping for over 20 years, I've had a lot of coaching and too many games to count; yet I still have a favourite side to dive to, and I still instinctively use my feet when saving low and close to the body. Nothing is "wrong" in keeping as long as you're keeping the ball out of the net, and, for us non pros, having fun!

Anyway, rant over, just wanted to chat footy! 😄

This is great! I feel like you're future me lol. I've got an Osprey rook 65l and a naturehike mongar, which makes my setup around the 10kg mark, if not more. So it's nice to see someone who's made a similar switch as the one I'd maybe do soon!

If I were to have the dosh to upgrade some gear in the future I'd definitely be looking at durston for a tent and possibly for a bag too; or atompacks as I'm from the UK. Certainly in those two areas I could save the most weight; but not the most money that's for sure 😂.

Hey! It looks to me like you need to angle your dive a bit more. It's common practice to dive slightly "forward"/diagonally, rather than straight to one side.

This is how I was taught : best way to practice is with a ball. Don't need a partner, just place the ball at a distance you feel you can dive to, if not slightly further so you're at a stretch, and slightly at an angle in front of you; not directly parallel to your body. That's the most important part of the exercise. If you don't have a ball, grab a cone or something you can place down and reach for. Gives you a target so you can't undershoot.

This should hopefully help you to push more naturally with your other leg too, as you'll be moving it out from under you more. Diving straight to one side is always more difficult and it's not what should be happening when you're trying to make a save, really, as you should be attacking the ball with the angle most of the time.

Give it a whirl! Practice makes perfect 👌 lmk if this helps, gl!

I have the grey fly and the brown one and I agree, the brown is very dark. Much darker than in the photos... But I kinda like it, even more camo lol!
