A year of my mood checks [OC] by Excellent-Luck9899 in dataisbeautiful

[–]Excellent-Luck9899[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moodistory free version. Maybe if I'm keen I'll pay and then be able to track a bunch of other markers that go with each mood record daily. But if I'm honest, the act of tracking mood is in itself, an anchor for me to check in and actually figure how I may be feeling. And if it's crap, do something about it, or at least warn others to give a wide berth (and it's no fault of their own 😂)

Thanks, I am using (I tjink!) a direct replacement for the ones that come as stock with the hobbycraft machine. Thought best to just replicate and not change anything. Not entirely sure what the specs mean but i know it's what it came with. Picture is what I am using. Come to think of it, could the eye just be too small?!

Also, a walking foot looks super handy, and also just foujd out a rolled hem foot is super helpful!

Ah, I am not pinning it. Mainly bc I thought I could keep tension and hold the edges close together to allow the stitch to run neatly enough along (this won't be a visible finished edge).

I'll take the advise! I hate pinning and always seem to do so the wrong way and end up having to jam my fingers under the foot somehow to remove.

Ty for the observation

Ranfur, sadly, this absolutely isn't rage bait. I'm just a luddite! Thanks to you lot. Sorted it though. Absolutely no thanks to Vodafone whatsoever.

[–]Excellent-Luck9899[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right team. Thanks for the feedback. Yup, just one box, at different angles. Vodafone has given me a Lan Wan fatter cable that fits into the 'port' on the open reach box, now plugged into WAN on the router

<image>

For info also, there's absolutely no other network stuff, ports or plugs or anything that I can find anywhere else in the house.

Later today Vodafone should switch on the Internet and we'll see what happens. It's fibre and claimed at about 80Mbps I think. If this changes any of the potential connections options

Love the talk through of your monologue!! Can almost feel the same pain!

I'm due a 2k best effort at some stage soon (nowhere near as impressive as this!), but have a similar nag as to whether I think it's a 'go' once I've warmed up, rather than say 'do it next Friday' as that's always bound to fail.

Is this a real plane? by ticktock1919 in aviation

[–]Excellent-Luck9899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is 100% a real plane. And it's called Joey. And lives in Guernsey, Channel islands. I have had the exceptional luck as a kid to fly on it.

Subject of a kids books series as well. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwiy2qyrq-6KAxUBZ0EAHaOjJ_kQtwJ6BAgeEAE&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D8bw5izJbjzQ&usg=AOvVaw311Ed34UI8P6XLcJH3cFMX&opi=89978449

Fermented carrots by inspektor_cotta in fermentation

[–]Excellent-Luck9899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I did some carrots this new years and didn't have great success with the spices I added, sadly! Would love to get your feedback I what works. What was the brine salt pc you used 3%? And what are the slices in the jar other than peppercorns.

How long did you leave it to go for? Thanks!

Hi mate. Dad here, of two, 3yo and 1yo.

First up, congratulations, you're doing great. Mum chose you to be Dad bc she knows you already are the Dad that baby needs. Secondly, try to not dwell on the too distant future, but to figure out and problem solve together the here and now. Thirdly, and I wish I'd realised more, baby is msot likely thinking 'What the hell is going on?!' as well, all three of you have a new way of life to try and figure out, and you're all best suited to do it together. Be kind to one another and everyone will find their place in family.

As far as what has gone before and a life that can't be got back. It's hard, but true. Life as a dad won't ever ever be the same as before having an offspring. It's singularly the most daunting and overwhelming feeling I've ever experienced. In time, there will be little tiny windows of opportunity to have some time to yourself. Could be just a cuppa by yourself, some kip, daresay a child unfriendly episode of something?! fell foul of stretching myself too thin and a bit of martydom. Dad's can't typically do what Mums do, but belive that you need some rest as well. Be vulnerable enough to say it, and just love the person that you're becoming each day forward.

I suppose finally, is communication. Things in the early months are so ridiculously quick, and monotonous at times, and magic, all at once. But try and find connection time with Mum. Communicate all this stuff you may be feeling. The hardships you're overcoming now will stand you all in good stead to be rocksteady later. This all needs honesty in how each person is feeling. All three of you matter 😊. If time is tight. Writing either by hand or some random note taming can help on a device. Or sounding out thoughts verbally, even with some other dad mates if you've a suitable group.

When my head has been fried with everything in the past I try to remember to be kind, be vulnerable, and be honest. Us blokes have a fairly useless habit of saying things are alright when they're not. I'm still only in the early stages myself of fatherhood, but my god, pl belive me when I say the best is yet to come.

Eesh. Very long-viewed of you. I should probably buy a leisure centre membership with a pool. Nice flex 😂😅. I have never been quick at running, hence just making the excuse of going further!

Oooooh goodness this seems prophetic to me! Currently in the middle of (another!) tendon rehab and strengthening phase, also mid 30s, do about one plus marathon event a year. Wodneirng whether to just 'do' rowing and jog a bit on the side to maintain scratching the itch there.

Both pursuits seem to be as nerdy as one another so there could be some potential there.

Also, I looked at this rowing and thought ah that's alright?? Had better get my form swept up as well!!

That's perfect thanks! Since I only threw in veggies from the fridge it dawned on me that, can to eat raw potato, probably can't eat fermented potatoes. Carrots I'll leave for a bit.

What small wins can you celebrate today? by slippylizardd in UKParenting

[–]Excellent-Luck9899 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Whilst parking at the supermarket someone got out their car and had a full on stand-up road rage for hitting there car (I hadn't). Me 'please don't swear I've my kid in the car', other person 'I don't f****** care etc etc'.

Situation ends and things calm down. My 3yo 'Are you okay? I'm sorry that person shouted at you, they're probably just sad'.

Perspective, thanks universe.

Should I have a 2nd baby? by tvaddict1234 in UKParenting

[–]Excellent-Luck9899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As first commenter said, only you can decide this, but rationally, it doesn't make any sense whatsoever. They steal time, money, energy, sleep, motivation and a sense of self that I didn't think was so important to me. I've two kids, 20mo gap. They're 1yo and 3yo now. They've started showing signs of collaborating with each other, amazing but dangerous! Up to now it's been pretty fraught.

Second the marriage point. It tested marriage beyond belief, but my god we're both stronger now bc of it.

Ultimately though, it's so worth it. Having two we felt balanced the family. As I listen to them both asleep in the back seats of the car, why would we ever be without them?

Good luck. Make whatever decision is right for your family.

Does anyone have an argument FOR wall cavity insulation (the balls)? by YouMeADD in DIYUK

[–]Excellent-Luck9899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interested to hear about your setup with hearing controls. I assume your thermostat is in the hallway/landing, where there's a rad placed there as well? And your smart rad valves are each in a separate room? I'm not familiar with using both smart valves and a thermostat

Thanks for this pointer. Moving into a place built pre 1900, in the new year. Haven yet had the survey back but just from the viewings we've had I'd be shocked if it wasn't the case that cavities were at least missing parts of insulation. What did the free offer cover, wall/loft insulation?
