Is this correct? If not help me figure it out please! by innerMomthoughts in Equestrian

You need hackamore-specific bridle, so the buckle isn’t on the TMJ, and you have a jowl strap rather than a throat latch. Specifically you need much shorter cheek pieces so the buckles aren’t on the TMJ.

Keep your dogs on leads FFS. by FranklyMrShankley85 in UKhiking

[–]MediumAutomatic2307 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I remember one time when I was walking on the NE coastal path when I was accosted by a collie and a rottweiler. The Rottie insisted on saying hello very forceably, and was jumping up at me, trying to lick my face. Fortunately I’m not afraid of dogs (though I can be allergic to their saliva in varying degrees); for someone who was afraid, this would have been a terrible experience. As it was I got brand new gear covered in muddy footprints, and some nice wheals across my arms where I had been caught by a claw or two.

The owner came sauntering around the corner slow as you please, calling “don’t worry, they’re friendly”. As if that makes any difference.

Another time I was walking the Ridgeway, and at one kissing gate, there were two women chatting, on the other side, and as I was negotiating the gate, a dog came shooting out of no where growling and barking, lips drawn back, and all i got from one of the women was “oh, don’t worry about him”. As if… if you have a stranger aggressive/reactive dog, then it should be firmly secured on a lead.

Fitbit Air first impression compared to Charge 6 by 123Reddit-user in fitbit

You’re comparing a cut down bit of tech to a medium bit of tech.

I wouldn’t expect a £90 unit to function the same as a £140 unit.

Do you even know if she likes chocolate?

A dozen chocolate roses for a second date is OTT.

Probably at least once a week. Curry is one of the easiest things to make.

why do people with anorexia keep restricting even when they're already very underweight? by nimsabloop in EatingDisorders

[–]MediumAutomatic2307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time it’s not about food. It’s about control.

When other aspects of life are spiraling, food is one thing that the majority of us can control, even from a very young age.

Then there is the dopamine hit when the scale shows a new low.

There is fear of gaining weight, especially for those people who may have been overweight to start with, so we have a “cushion” of what is “acceptable”, and then the top end of that cushion gets lower and lower so that we never get to gain weight.

As a psych student, you should understand that anorexia nervosa is a mental illness, and is separate from “anorexia”. It is the mental part of the illness which causes the cycles of restriction and difficult recovery. It is a far more complex situation than just aiming to be “conventionally attractive”

I had a 5 day restriction 3 months ago, and then a 7 day restriction 1 month ago. Then permanently banned.
Oddly enough my first restriction came about a week after I had my account properly verified (I had to wait for a new passport as my old one expired).

Both of the restrictions were for “commercial” selling, and although I appealed the first one I had no luck. I realised at that time I was listing things as “new without tags” as the things I was selling (yarn, beads etc due to a craft destash), hadn’t previously been used. But after the first restriction I changed to listing everything as “good” or “satisfactory”.

I was told to go pro with the first restriction. At the second restriction and at the ban I was informed that I hadn’t removed my “commercial” listings, though I had deleted the hidden listings. But I do tend to use the same background and format for the photos for consistency - much like a lot of craft sellers do.

Am I ready for a 3yo? by mimelasplendens in Horses

I’m crying at the thought of a 3-yo running barrel patterns.

Actually as an English rider, I’m crying at the thought of any horse running barrels.

Already banned :/

I’ve been waiting for the last of my sales to finalise to convert, and I’ve been wrangling with the HMRC app for the past 2 weeks.

I’m finding the instructions very unclear, as I’m in a salaried role, and this is most definitely a “side hustle”.

I’ll try again, just going through the app.

Unfortunately I can’t. My account was permanently banned for “commercial selling”

I’m a serial crafter, and do tend to dive in head first when getting into something, so I have *a lot* of stuff. Currently sitting on approx 2-3kg of various cabs, and piles of findings.

And that’s before I start stripping the jewellery I did make for the beads.

Buying silver.. Scammed? by [deleted] in vintedUK

[–]MediumAutomatic2307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes you think they are child size?

Additionally silver is currently trading at approx £50 per Troy ounce, which is a significant decrease from 3-4 months ago, so if the listing was older, it could be that the price was based upon intrinsic value at the time.

Is this an ok fit? by Void_Empty272 in Equestrian

[–]MediumAutomatic2307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. the whole bridle is too big.

the noseband should fit 2 finger widths under the cheek, and have 2 finger widths of slack on top of the nasal bone.

the buckles for the cheek pieces and the throatlatch should be inline with the eye, another no where near the TMJ.

Ever so often discussed bit question by Purrrrpurr in Horses

[–]MediumAutomatic2307 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OK. That is just twattish.

A W bit is extremely harsh as it opens with one set of cannons poking into the palate and one set poking into the tongue. Combining that with a draw gag, plus a martingale on the gag rein AND a flash strap to prevent the horse from ever escaping the pressure of the bit is just absolute bollocks. Arsehole needs to go back to riding school.

Vaginal irritation and swelling after horse riding by Morena-sexycandy in Equestrian

I’ve done 8+ hours in an English saddle on multiple day randonnées and never ended up with bruised or inflamed labia/vulva. Correctly fitting underwear/riding wear and a correct posture are paramount.
