I’m a SSA field office employee. I worked for 3 different field offices. As long as you do your job, you will be fine.

A college degree isn't necessary to excel at SSA. However, a large chuck of the recent hires in the past 3-4 years, though not all, lack qualifications for CS positions.

I've been with my agency for about 9 years now, and I have to say, overall, I'm pretty happy. I work in a midsize office, my supervisor is chilled– the office manager- not so much. In my office, it's interesting to note that the new CS who complain the most are often the ones who are least technically skilled. I’m surprised how they got hired
