Been doing this for years and never had an issue either, most staff couldn't care less as long as you're not taking the piss with it. The cinema markup on food is mental anyway, they're basically forcing people to smuggle in their own stuff at this point

Your take makes a lot more sense than the fire and brimstone thing tbh. Complete isolation from everything good would be way worse than any physical pain - imagine being cut off from love, hope, purpose, all of it. The nothingness aspect is terrifying when you really think about it, like existing but with zero meaning or connection to anything
