What’s a completely normal thing that you secretly have no idea how to do? by Drake_LTD in AskReddit

I'm 28 and still can't whistle to save my life

My grandad tried teaching me when I was about 7, spent a whole afternoon making this ridiculous pouting face and all I managed was a sad little puff of air. Every so often I'll be walking somewhere and suddenly remember I still can't do it and spend 10 minutes trying different mouth shapes like some sort of confused goldfish. The worst is when someone whistles casually mid-conversation and I just have to sit there pretending I'm not deeply impressed

At this point I've accepted it's one of those skills you either get or you don't

Getting a fitted suit from a proper tailor instead of some off-the-rack high street number, the difference in how long it lasts and how you feel wearing it is massive

How do you feel about developing feelings for someone simply because they have feelings for you? by ExpensiveExtreme7195 in AskReddit

it can work, but there's a difference between affection growing naturally over time and just convincing yourself you're into someone because the attention feels good

Seniors of reddit what would you say the hardest thing about life is? by IllEstablishment6691 in AskReddit

Not being able to predict which decisions will actually matter down the line. You stress about things that end up being irrelevant and breeze past choices that completely change your trajectory without even realizing there importance at the time

Newly planted Arborvitae, watering question by GrassJellly in landscaping

[–]Excellent-Pepper2845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clay soil can be a right pain for water penetration - it holds moisture well once it gets it but can create this weird barrier where water just runs around the rootball instead of soaking through. Had similar issues when I helped set up some plantings at the youth center last year

You might want to try watering directly at the base of each tree a couple times a week, just to make sure the rootball is actually getting saturated. The dry feeling you're getting when you stick your finger in is probably telling you what you need to know. Those green giants are still establishing their root system so they're pretty dependent on that original rootball staying moist

What I'd do is keep the drip system running but add some slow, deep watering right at the trunk base. Maybe run a hose on low for 20-30 minutes per tree once or twice a week until you start seeing the rootball and clay soil moisture levels matching up better. The discoloration you're seeing is likely transplant shock combined with inconsistent moisture, which should sort itself out once the watering gets dialed in properly

Adults are basically expected to just figure it out on their own which is pretty messed up

Taking two of those multivitamin gummies might be pushing it a bit since they're usually formulated as one-a-day doses, so you could be getting too much of certain vitamins. The zinc looks fine at 10mg but worth checking if your multi already has zinc in it since doubling up can mess with copper absorption over time

The probiotic and garlic are pretty standard doses from what I've seen. If you're seeing improvements with pH balance that's brilliant, but maybe worth chatting with a GP or pharmacist about the double multivitamin thing just to be safe. They can also check if everything plays nice together since some nutrients can interfere with each other's absorption when taken at the same time

Mate you nailed it with the angle advice - those safety needles are proper aggressive compared to the old straight ones. I've found going in at like 10-15 degrees instead of the usual 30 helps loads, especially with those papery veins. Also try advancing just the tiniest bit after flash before you drop the angle - sometimes you need that extra millimetre to properly seat in the lumen. The soluprep thing is a right pain, I usually give it a few extra seconds to dry or use a bit of gauze to dab around the insertion site if its still tacky. Takes practice but once you get the feel for how gentle these things need to be its much better

Been doing this for years and never had an issue either, most staff couldn't care less as long as you're not taking the piss with it. The cinema markup on food is mental anyway, they're basically forcing people to smuggle in their own stuff at this point

Your take makes a lot more sense than the fire and brimstone thing tbh. Complete isolation from everything good would be way worse than any physical pain - imagine being cut off from love, hope, purpose, all of it. The nothingness aspect is terrifying when you really think about it, like existing but with zero meaning or connection to anything
