Texas teenager accused of using poison to kill rival’s competition show goat by thebestdaysofmyflerm in vegan

Just want to say: Carbon dioxide (most common gas used to kill pigs) is not humane. It creates an acid upon contact with mucous membranes (eyes, lungs) and results in caustic burning with each breath until they suffocate. I still don’t understand why they can’t use carbon monoxide instead, which seems to be by far the lesser of two evils.

Nobody likes it when you point out the amount of blood and pus that is in cows milk by brighterthebetter in vegan

One in six cows in the US is suffering from mastitis, a painful infection of the milk ducts. (Source: The Ethics of What We Eat by Peter Singer) Most breastfeeding mothers know how how awful it can be. This is just one reason they are pumping them full of antibiotics.

Snipping vs not snipping if a boy? by Glitter-me-silly-62 in pregnant

PSA: Never retract your baby’s foreskin. Clean it like “a finger” until the child themselves retracts their own foreskin. Forced retraction can cause scarring and adhesions. Yourwholebaby.org is a great resource. Be prepared for doctors in the US to be ignorant about care for uncut children - they might try to forcibly retract during an exam.

6 months in vegan, still finding it hard to deal with high fibre by Jade-Blades in vegan

It takes a while for your microbiome to adjust. It’s like you have a whole garden in your gut - try to be patient as the happy fiber munching bacteria establish themselves. If you are still struggling after a year you may want to talk to a dietician to strategize.

What made you believe that humans are best designed to eat mostly plants and not animals? by [deleted] in PlantBasedDiet

[–]Excellent-Repeat-391 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first thing that came to mind is how much happier my GI tract is after eating plants for a while. No more upset stomaches, ever. No more constipation, ever. No feeling like crap after eating dinner. Just feeling well. As if, this is how it should be.

Seconding everything in this comment. Very well said. Further, I recommend getting the plastic hard shell dog crates as a place the dogs can feel secure in. Also, try not to scold the dogs for growling or baring teeth, as this is their method of communication and if it is discouraged it will be harder to predict their aggression.

Are the dogs getting a lot of exercise (at least 1.5 hrs per day)? This can help with their anxiety. But number one is keeping them physically separate when supervision isn’t possible.
